芬姐 Pho Ga District — Restaurant in Rosemead

Quick service, kind and efficient workers, sanitizing game on point, and all importantly the food is great. What you come for is the pho ga (chicken pho - bone in or off, noodles are customizable but standard is the medium width rice noodle, which I like better than the vermicelli). Broth has a rich flavor and enough fat to give it a good mouth feel. Ordered extra for the next day and there’s a good jiggle to the broth. Also ordered the banh cuon (steamed rice rolls with cha lua (pork loaf), stuffed with wood eared mushroom, pork, and this one has an addition of shrimp), goi (Vietnamese green papaya salad with an option of shredded chicken or beef), Hai Nam chicken, and BBQ pork chop rice with fried egg and steamed cabbage. All tasty but would absolutely return next time for my chicken...

This place is a cute little gem in strip mall on San Gabriel Blvd.

The menu is fairly simple with a few appetizer, rice plates, and noodles in each category.

We shared the egg rolls and bahn cuon which were both very good. The rice paper wrapper on the bahn cuon were soft and fresh. The ground meat and mushroom inside also tasted delicious. The "white" meat or bologna on the side was just okay. The egg rolls were fried perfectly and served with fresh lettuce and cilantro.

I ordered the duck and bamboo pho, which I haven't seen in other Vietnamese restaurants. The soup was a simple chicken broth, however the canned bamboo's flavor was very overpowering. It is definitely an acquired taste.

Overall I would come back for the egg rolls and bahn cuon but probably stick...

If you want simple, delicious, flavorful and clean chicken Pho then this is the place for you . I love how flavorful the broth is. You can tell it was cool in bones for a long time and not flavor powder - or worst msg. The result is a clean bold clear broth with fresh Pho noddles and free-range chicken. You can have it with the bones or without the bones. They also have minced ginger and chili soy sauce for you to dip the chicken in. The menu is very simple and short. They have Chicken Pho, chicken rice, papaya salad with and without beef, Banh Cuong (thin rice flour packed with meat), tea and coffee. That’s it. We have enjoyed this place for many years.
