I went to Sonic on National Hotdog Day to partake in their $1 hotdog or chili dog deals. I use their app, and am signed up for text messages, so Sonic sent me a couple of texts about getting hotdogs or chili dogs for $1 that day. According to the Sonic app, we could also get their new Lemonberry Slush for half-price before 2pm (drinks are normally half-price between 2pm and 4pm), if we ordered through the app. So instead of the $2.99 sale price, it would be $1.50 for each slush, and $1 for each hotdog/chili dog. We tried ordering through the app, where it advertised both the National Hotdog Day and the half priced Lemonberry Slush, however it didn't show a limit to the number of hotdogs we could get for $1 nor how many slushes for half price. Also, the app didn't have the Lemonberry drink as a menu item anywhere, so ordering it was impossible. Also, each hotdog was showing a $2.27 price tag in the app. By the time we messed around attempting to order through the app, we neared the 2pm price change, so went to the drive-up window. The 1st gal we talked to couldn't understand us, so told us to just go to the window. Once there, I explained that it was National Hotdog Day and we were there to get the $1 deal. She said it wasn't hotdog day, and they had no deals. I showed her the app where it clearly stated it WAS National Hotdog Day, so she said we had to order through the app, and I explained that the app was charging over $2 for each hotdog. The gal called someone else over, and we went through the same song and dance, and he called another person over and same thing happened, then they finally got the manager who said it was cancelled. Why was there only one person there who even knew it was National Hotdog Day (they should have been alerted at least a few days in advance) and why was he the only one who knew it had been cancelled that morning? I ended up not ordering anything because of the disorganized staff at the North Dirksen Pkwy restaurant, the ineffectual manager who should have alerted his staff to the fact that several people would be coming in for $1 hotdogs only to be disappointed, and I went through 4 people before they got the manager, and because some of the staff basically accused us of trying to pull a fast one to get them to give away free hotdogs. I kept pointing out the Sonic app showed it was National Hotdog Day, and it was not something I made up. I also showed the texts from Sonic indicating they were $1. And, even though I was in their drive-up after 2pm, not one employee showed signs of knowing what I was talking about when they always have people lined-up for their corn dogs when they're on sale, so I couldn't have been the first $1 hotdog customer they had that day. About 5 minutes after I left there, I received another text from Sonic reminding me to get their $1...
