Check your bill for hidden charges! 20% Service Charge comes included in the bill even for a small party!
Had a disappointing experience... A perfect example that tip culture is getting out of hand! Our bill had 20% service charge included and then an additional section for gratuity. Generally restaurants include max 18% service charge for a big party 6-8 people. When we asked our server about the charge, he blatantly said - " it's up to my discretion, it's my money. I charge that!" Then he also mentioned "I charge what I want when the bill is a big amount and back and forth is involved." For us it wasnt even a bill of $90. In the end we had him scratch that ridiculous charge and we tipped him according to his "service" to which he taunted "it's not even x%!" when we were on our way out. Does bringing food from kitchen to the table give him some kind of authority on my money? To say such things is inappropriate. Our server didn't get water to begin with, he didn't even clear the plates such that we had to stack up plates to make room for our main course. He was rude and arrogant, why would I tip 20% to such a character? Honestly he didn't have to play suçh gimmicks, we would have anyway tipped a good amount as we had liked the food. But his arrogance worked against him. If 20% service charge has to be included, it should be mentioned on the menu. I get to decide if I like the food and service,...
Read moreFood was decent for a Thai restaurant in Conway, NH because this area only has 2 including this one.
I ordered the House Pad Thai, which my Thai friend said was the “street style”. The dish was bland, not as flavorful with the tamarind and fish sauce flavor.
My friend and I ordered Tom Kha (chicken in coconut milk hot and sour soup with galangal, onion, and mushrooms with cilantro sprinkled on top). My friend thought it was okay, but I thought it was a bit too sweet for my liking.
My Thai friend Pad Pri Kange, which was pork and green beans some chili paste seasoning (see their menu). She also ordered chicken satay.
My other friend ordered pork dumpings, shuman style which she liked.
Ask or go online for the non-alcoholic drink choices. There was no menu for these drinks except alcoholic ones. My friend had to ask for Thai Tea, which she thought tasted okay. The server did not explain the non-alcoholic drink options, so she looked online.
Customer service was lacking because our server did not anticipate our needs such as asking how the food was or offering specific drink choices since they don’t have the drinks...
Read moreI recently dined at what I can only describe as the most authentic Thai restaurant I’ve ever experienced from the food to the decor. I also have to mention the lovely wood-work throughout the cozy but spacious interior was charming and warm.
The food was nothing short of extraordinary. I had the green curry and it was a revelation, spiced exactly to my preference and very fresh herbs, it was truly phenomenal. They also have a legit kids menu with plenty of great options for picky eaters. My wife loved her pad Thai, she says it's the best she's had. Everyone enjoyed the dumplings.
What sets this place apart is the humble owner, whose passion for quality shines through in every aspect. You can tell they’ve chosen to prioritize authenticity over churning out dishes for the sake of volume. He was also very accommodating and friendly to my daughter - my wife and I felt very comfortable dinning there with our child.
If you’re craving Thai cuisine that feels like a warm hug from Thailand itself, this is it - I see us making sure we hit this spot every time we come through North Conway...
