Avoid this location and all famous daves
Here is a list of problems from my recent visit to famous Dave's coon rapids
#1 half rack =4 ribs #2 full rack = 10 ribs #3 sweet taste of liquid smoke on all meats #4 wifes well-done burger was red in the middle replacement burger was burnt about 1/4" thick and cut in half (great "chef" must have wanted to make sure it was well done "destroyed" and came out after the rest of the party food was eaten #5 less than attentive wait staff
When the manager was asked about the number of ribs undercooked then destroyed burger she quickly stated "this a European style rib that have 4 for half and 10-11 for full" and walked away without commenting on the burger situation
Overall I would have been much happier going to Texas roadhouse or even Jersey Mike's than famous Dave's.
Not sure what happened to the chain... used to be a great bbq place seriously let down.
Will not be...
Read moreAs a bbq junkie I can be a harsh critic when i'm discussing what i'm so passionate about. Famous Dave's in CR consistently puts out great bbq. Although i'm not exactly fond of their slaw which I find too bland, the star of any bbq restaurant should be, and here it definitely is the meat. The ribs are meaty and flavorful, the chicken is juicy with perfect bite though skin, the sausage has a great snap and balanced flavor and the brisket is consistently moist and perfectly tender. I've only once in dozens of visits had brisket that wasn't amazing. When the server asked how everything was I hesitated to tell her about the brisket. Moments later a manager brought out another plate of brisket and stood by to make sure it was to my liking, and it was perfect. If you're looking for good quality, nicely priced bbq in a clean, family friendly restaurant do yourself a flavor and come check this place out. You...
Read moreThe restaurant has been remodeled and I have to say that I don't care for the new look. It just doesn't feel as welcoming as it did before. My husband and I went there with his parents and we ordered the meal that serves 2 to 3 people. We shared it with my mother in-law and his father ordered a salad. We received our food in a timely manner and it was very good. The staff was friendly and attentive and the place was clean. Also the prices were reasonable. What we really missed was the uniqueness of the old Famous Dave's. They use to serve the large meals for 3 or more people on a trash can lid and set it on a stand at the table. Now you get it on a metal tray . Also the restaurant used to be decorated in nostalgic decor such as old license plates ,fishing gear, old gas cans. These kinds of things helped to make it an enjoyable experience. Sorry, but what they did was make it just like any...
