Super Star Buffet — Restaurant in Coon Rapids

Great Mandarin never recovered from Covid and when we found out a new Asian Buffet was rising from the ashes, we were constantly watching for the grand opening! The interior was COMPLETELY redone and now has a fantastic ambiance. Love the new entrance doors and flowing water wall! Dinnerware is very colorful as is the new bathrooms. Buffet had some unexpected offerings that really exceeded our expectations. Especially the seafood! Had my doubts about the Chili Salmon with it's cheese topping but, WOW it was super flaky and very moist. Perfectly cooked too. Fried Fish and Fantail Shrimp with their seasoned and crunchy panko breading, are moist and delicious. Steamed Dumplings were quite large, plump, and full of pork. Chicken wings are HUGE were also very well done, crunchy, moist, and super hot. Crawfish were JUMBO sized and in a very flavorful, spicy broth. Best I've tasted in many years. Got there early and it gradually became super busy with a line going all the way to the entrance. In spite of that, the staff was very organized and friendly and the kitchen just kept right up with the demand without an impact on the quality. Extremely clean too! Excellent Mongolian Grill area. Not everything blew our socks off but, we sure were impressed with what did. Sushi is now quite delicious and freshly made rolls are coming out more frequently. Pretty shocked that the Squid Salad is very tasty and cooked so well. Grilled fish was absolutely addicting and Chicken Wings were especially large, juicy on the inside and extremely crunchy! Even have Hard Boiled Eggs there at a time when eggs...

Googled this place, then called about blue crab and seafood woman said large selection? Bait and Switch... You pay 1st, something told me I should of looked at the buffet before we paid, note: small food selection on EVERYTHING! NO Grill Most of the food was bland and fried to nothing, blue crab weren't even the whole crabs, mostly claws, with very slow service to bring out fresh Blue crab..with the whole body, what i got was half spoiled. salted shrimp were fried gooey, and dirty not cleaned, main thing I ate was veggies, sushi, and they have the worst sushi. Dirty tongs, like they been there all day not changed out!, teriyaki chicken was fried to hell!, 22.99 should be 10.99 The chocolate Ice-cream was the best and the garlic spicy green beans. Not worth the drive, if your used to eating Basic bland dirty food, then you'll be right at home. Also when we walked in there were more than 10 dirty tables that hadn't been CLEANED! Went here on the way home because i could not stand the idea of esting McD again and with my husband and 6 kids (4 who ate at adult prices) in tow this looked like s good option. We were blown away. Affordable and great quality. There was a nice variety of foods so even my picky eaters were satisfied with some American style options (fries, fried chicken, fruits, etc).My more adventurous eaters enjoyed the oysters and prawns which was a 1st for them. Everything was hot and flavorful. I loved the steamed potstickers and peppered chicken. Super yummy! The staff was clearing our empty plates and asking us for refills constantly - no waiting here which is awesome with antsy kids. My teenagers even said 'With the music, if you close your eyes, it's very vibey! I love it.' I think thats like a high honor coming from a teen lol Not a single thing bad to say...
