Caja Caliente Coral Gables — Restaurant in Coral Gables

If you want to just skip the details of our visit go to the end where I tell you to go visit Caja Caliente ASAP. We are from out of town and went here on a whim just kinda driving around. And I am so glad we happened upon it. I do not leave reviews very often but I have to give all I can on this one. It was my wife and 3 children. Ages 12, 9 and 7. We all loved it!!! My sons had the gator taco, daughter and I had the lechon(pork) taco and wife had tamal cubano. The tacos come packed with protein, flavor and the love of your grandmother cooking away all day in the kitchen. My oldest loved it so much he got another and then I tried his gator and had to get an extra one as well. I helped my wife eat her tamal cubano because it was so large. This food comes in large portions. Not like regular tacos. And then there's the service. These guys really care about you, the food they are serving and their family owned business. They did such a fantastic job ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting and getting us whatever we needed. The place was starting to get busy right after we arrived and they ran the place like a machine. Everyone was taken care of and the food was coming out fast, hot and exquisite. It's difficult to find a place the whole family gives 5 stars but this place did just that. Even my kids were telling me I need to leave a review. Bottom line...go here and go here often. I have 3 more days here in Miami and I'll be going back before we leave. We've already decided. Thanks for the great food...

I stopped in after placing my order over the phone with my son. When I got there my food still wasn't ready but it gave me the opportunity to look around and look at others people plates (LOL). And if you're wondering, YES I saw some meals that I'd definitely come back and try. It appears that people really love this restaurant as it was pretty packed outside.

Once I received my food and got in my car, I immediately opened up the bag to remind myself of what was in store. The empanadas didn't stand a chance. I ate those while I drove home. I loved the flaky crust and I am not usually a fan of guava and cheese but these were good. I probably wouldn't order then again though. I wondered (while stuffing my face) if they have any filled with meat. If not, Caja make one with a meat option!

When I did make it home and saw the taco, I wished I would've known what was on the taco as I usually wouldn't put all of that on my taco. However, my boyfriend is always saying that I judge something without trying it, blah blah blah eye roll. Anywho in this instance he was absolutely right (he will never read this and I will never admit to it). The way the flavors of whatever was on this taco combined on my tastebuds, it was like a party in my mouth and I had to do a little happy dance. Thankfully my son didn't want any and I got to eat it all by myself Celine Dion voice

I give it this qualification because I went yesterday, Sunday 02/21/2021, I spent almost 10 minutes standing at the counter waiting to see if someone would attend to me, I must have arrived at the place around 2:10 pm or 2:15 pm on The owner can look at the camera that was in front of me and see everything that happened, after standing for a while, I asked one of the waitresses her name is "CLAUDIA" for the order and she told me that she was not ready in a tone very rude and vulgar and I told her that I was asking her why she had been in the place for a long time and no one had even asked me the name of the order I was coming to look for, then I contact Uber support and they call the restaurant and she answered which also In bad shape she said in bad shape to the person who called asking that the order was not ready, after a while I told her to find a manager for me and she came with the order and they told her that I wanted to talk to the manager and she said "OLGA" is not here, and so I asked a boy ho that was there as the girl's name was and she turned her back on me and then I told her she does not have a name and the boy answered me "NO SHE DOES NOT HAVE A NAME" then I saw the name of the girl on the ticket of the bag is called " CLAUDIA "and I told the boy I don't need him to tell me I already have it.
