My husband and I decided on Perry's for our date night. We scheduled our reservation online, it was a quick and easy process that afforded us the opportunity to specify the reason for our visit (Anniversary, Date, Birthday, etc.). We were actually late dropping off the kids and hand to call to push the reservation back 2 hours, Perry's was happy to oblige. On arrival, hostess staff explained that tables were being cleaned and we would be seated shortly. We waited just over 5 min.
We were seated in the main dining area, shortly thereafter, out server Juan greeted us diaplaying genuine interest in our dining experience. Juan helped me navigate the drink menu and we landed on the Smoky Rita, which features a habanero sugar rim. The spice on the rim was definitely potent, so proceed with caution, but overall the drink was really tasty 7/10.
Our first course was Pan Seared Scallops, served on a hearty thick up slab on bacon. The Scallops were silky and delicious and the saltiness of the bacon complimented them so well. They were garnished with a crunch topping that added depth of texture. During this course, a manager named OJ approached our table to inquire about our dining experience thus far. He was kind, personable and witty, and made us feel very welcomed.
For the main course, we each ordered 14oz Ribeyes cooked medium. My husband chose to have his Oscar-style topped with lump crab, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce. He describes it as well-cooked to temperature, juicy and flavorful 10/10. I ordered mine differently, 3-Peppercorn Au Poivre style, it arrived covered in a delicious brown sauce that I really enjoyed. My steak was a perfect medium, tender, and packed with flavor 10/10. We did order the trio sauces which included the 2 savory sauces we already had smothering our steaks, in addition to a sweet truffle merlot designated. I found the combination of the Bearnaise and Peppercorn Reduction to be my favorite. We shared 2 sides, Three Cheese Mac & Cheese 7/10 and Au Gratin Potatoes 10/10 (a recommendation from Juan).
For dessert, we enjoyed the Rocky Road Bread Pudding. It comes with a massive toasted marshmallow sitting delicately atop a generous portion of bread pudding riddled with candies walnuta. It was a little sweet for our taste but still delicious 8/10.
As we finished up, our server kindly offered to box our leftovers while the manager, OJ, made yet another appearance to ensure that our night was as satisfying as we anticipated. We were pleased to eagerly express our contentment and gratitude.
Overall, an amazing...
Read moreOn August 13, 2022, me and five others ate at Perry’s Steak House located in Coral Gables, Florida for dinner. After finishing our main course, we were waiting for our dessert when we noticed several of the customers that were seated around us had left their tables. It was already close to 10:30 pm and figured they paid and left. Approximately 15 minutes later, Jesus the manager approached our table with bill in hand and advised us that there was a situation in the back of the restaurant and we need to evacuate. However before we leave, he wanted us to pay the bill. When we asked him what was the situation he declined to say. When we looked around we noticed we were the only ones left in the restaurant. A few moments later the customers that were seated behind us returned to their table and stated to us that the fire department had cleared all persons to return back to the restaurant. They further advised us that the reason they evacuated everyone was due to a gas leak. We then requested to speak to Jesus the manager. Moments later Jesus asked us what were our concerns. We then asked him why he didn’t advise us that the evacuation was due to a gas leak. He only cared about having us pay the bill. We further advised that they put us at risk and demanded to know why we were not told to evacuate immediately like everyone else. Jesus replied, “I am sorry next time I will do a better job. He was under the impression everyone had left the restaurant.” Obviously he knew everyone had not left because he is the one that told us initially to leave but pay the bill first. After several other questions he again replied, I will do a better job next time. This is outrageous and unacceptable. We were not given a reason as to why we were not advised about the gas leak immediately and given the opportunity to evacuate the restaurant right away. Now I pose a question, could this be a race issue because we were the only Black Americans inside the restaurant at that time? I am not saying that was the reason, however no one gave us an explanation. We are still demanding a response. We were a party of six including two retired Police Officers and a local investigative...
