I really hate giving Island Root 1 star, if i could personally rate bartenders i’d give this guy 0 stars and Island Root 5 stars. I’ve been coming here a few weeks now and the place itself is really great! The people and decorations they have up are super cute. Normally i try to come here all the time after work but they just recently hired a new bartender named Kenneth and he’s totally and completely made me and my friends want to stop coming here. I’m a bartender and every thing he does makes me have less and less respect for this place and want to recommend all my friends and other women not come here. On my first time meeting him and ordering some drinks i heard him talking to other guests about drugs and what drugs he personally sells, which as a bartender and knowing about undercover cops i think it’s extremely important management is aware of that because i know plenty of people who have gone to court and gotten their businesses shut down for less. Now if it was just that i could probably write it off but he made me and my friends sooo uncomfortable, there was so much unnecessary aggression towards us when we were trying to order and instead of speaking kindly to us and letting us know about all the drinks and benefits of kratom, (like every where else ive gone to) he spent the whole time talking rudely and inappropriately about other female guests and women to me and my friends (who were a majority women) which was so incredibly disgusting and off-putting and made us all want to leave. Then to top it all off he overcharged us on our drinks, made us wait 30 minutes to get them, AND the drinks were disgusting. I ordered espresso and it was chunky… I really loved this place and their drinks at first and everyone i’ve talked to has recommended it but now after this guy was hired we’ve all said we’re gonna go to other kava bars because he’s completely ruined the experience. We went to Island Root this week, the location in Coral Springs. A new bartender is there, Diana, we knew from other Kava locations. She was very attentive and entertaining. Always making us giggle and laugh. She has a happy go lucky attitude all the while we were there and really put us in a great relaxed mood. Drinks are potent and tea selections taste fresh, all strains and shot recipes are available. Pool table too, clean bathrooms and good music selections. See her on weekend days including Friday for an enjoyable peaceful outing. Thank you Diana.we love you 3 months later ow. I only wish their happy hour was longer and more often. There's lots of Kava bars with good bartenders. It's the discount that gets people spending. Update: Well it's months later now, October 24. Still the same 1 hour happy hour. We've stopped coming here because many new Kava bars have opened with quality drinks at lower happy hour prices. Sorry Island Root, you didn't take the hint.
