Veranda Kitchen just opened in The Walk @ 2864 North University Drive (Coral Springs), and wow—they really transformed the old Yellow Yolk/Metro Diner space.
Gorgeous renovation. Full bar. Craft cocktails. You can tell they spent a fortune building this out—and it shows.
Why “Veranda” for a Thai-Vietnamese spot? Their original restaurant is on Veranda Street in Portland, Maine!
The food? Excellent across the board. Everything is made in-house.
• The Shrimp Bikini appetizer is a knockout—perfectly crispy and flavorful. • Dumplings have a super tasty filling (would love to have them fried next time instead of steamed—thick skin). • Pho is loaded with aromatic herbs and high-quality beef—one of the best I’ve had locally.
And the cocktails? Wild. There’s a TomYum drink with galangal, lemongrass, Thai chili, kaffir lime leaves, Stoli Lime vodka, tequila, lemonade, and lime juice. It’s no joke—delicious, intense, and unforgettable. It’s also spicy due to the muddled chile pepper but they can tone it down on request.
Prices are a bit higher than other Vietnamese and Thai places nearby, but you’re getting serious quality and a beautiful atmosphere. This place has all the makings of a Coral Springs favorite if locals show them love.
Owners Sonka Nguyen and her husband and chef Hai Pham (from Huế City, Vietnam) are warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. We’ll...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Veranda for a nice dinner. We were greeted friendly and brought to a nice little booth. The atmosphere is very nice and peaceful so we were looking forward to a nice dinner.
Unfortunately it took over 10 minutes for someone to see us and ask for drinks.
After the drinks and food were ordered we never saw our server again. The food was brought out by other staff and no one checked on us again. We would have had 3x as many drinks but no one checked on us again or ever asked if the food came out ok.
It was even quite some effort to waive someone down to finally get the check. I would understand it, if it was busy but there were only 4 other tables occupied.
Our waitress had just disappeared until it was time to take the check with her coworker whom we had to flag down had printed. No questions about how to food was or anything.
I really have a hard time understanding this, since the place is pretty nice. But this was by far the worst/non existent service I...
Read moreI recently moved from Brooklyn, NY to here and I was afraid that I would not find any good Asian food. I did a search of what was available in the area and this restaurant came up. I looked at their menu and decided to give it a try. I order the Pai Thai Shrimp and the noodles and sauce were delicious and the Shrimp was seasoned and it came out nice and a little crispy, the Grilled Pork Chop Rice plate was delicious with the pork chop being tasty and tender, the Meatball Pho was tasty with all ingredients mixed in with hoisin sauce, and I brought my own spicy red sauce, because I like a certain taste different than the red spicy sauce on the table, and the Vietnamese Egg Roll was fried perfectly and was delicious. It was my mother and I and the server was nice enough to inform me that that was a lot of food but I figured that I should try all the dishes that I usually eat and see what I like and don't like. I loved everything!!! The restaurant is beautiful and so classy...
