On Sunday 04-27 i went to IHOP after church to enjoy breakfast with my husband and my 4 small kids we ordered 3 kids meals a breakfast sampler and a stack of pancakes and 2x2x2 , 5 mins sitting at the table ants started to crawl on to our food on the wall all over the table I stopped my waitress to let her know about the ants. She was very kind and she did see the ants. She stated she was going to go get her general manager. It took about five minutes before the general manager came. In the meantime, we stopped to cook to let the cook know there were ants in the food. So of course, me and my kids and my husband immediately stopped eating our Breakfast, we proceeded to show the manager the ants. The manager stated there was nothing she could do besides give me a discount on the food for 50% off. She did not offer to remake our food so I explained to her how disgusting this was for there to be bugs in the food, and she didn’t even offer to remake the meal as well as put us at a different clean table in the middle of getting my kids under control, my kids kept stating how they were ants in the food. (4year olds)The manager stated to me that she was going to comp my bill and that we did not need to pay for the food today I believe she only did this because it was other people in the restaurant that were able to hear what was going on I asked her what is her name she told me her name was Amanda and me and my kids proceeded to leave the restaurant. Amanda called the police and lied and told the police that me and my family Dined and ditch. The police called my phone to get my side of the story and I explained to the police there was no side of the story because she told us we didn’t have to pay for the meal because of the bugs. I advised the police I will meet him back up at the restaurant so we can get the situation under control as we were told to leave and that we did not have to pay for our meal upon arriving back at the restaurant and employee came out and presented herself to be the manager Which she was not the manager, and she proceeded to ask me if we were going to pay for our food that we dined and ditch on which I will post the video of she proceeded to talk very crazy and nasty to me as if we just stole this meal When I advised her that we were waiting for the police and the police told us to come back, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and started to act like she was on the phone.

We had a gift certificate to use and went out as a family of 4. The waiter/front entry fella was nice. Gave us time to select our meals. Wait time on meals was long. Salads (even though purchased as a side) should have came our first. Entrees arrived and then some sides separately. They should have used the same plate. House fav...ham and cheese omelet with white cheese sauce came without the cheese. The waiter got us some, the kitchen staff dished up cold sauce to serve to us. Omelet was fine otherwise. My daughter had the 2x2x2 (eggs, ham and sausage) with side of pancakes. Pancakes were rubbery to me and a little overdone. My salad was fine as was my husband's. The sandwich served was fried not grilled (error by the kitchen and not noticed by waiter until the table.) He did offer to exchange and I said no big deal. I do regret it only because it has a spicy batter I did not care for. My husband had the chicken fried steak (no photo.) Too much black pepper and he said mine is better. No mashed potatoes and no green beans in the restaurant so he had to order fries. How does one not have mashed potatoes available? The restaurant only had 4 tables with patrons (2 when we were there and the other one had their food already) so I don't understand the issues with the kitchen timing and errors. Edit: I'm lowering the star rating as IHOP thinks they can squeeze my 4 star into a 5 star (see their reply) the next time we go to IHOP. My food rating was low. I want good service and atmosphere too. If the food is not good there is a good chance we're not coming back no matter if a restaurant changes their service or atmosphere. Our waiter was great so that wasn't an issue here.

This was by far the dirtiest place we'd ever eaten at. Tables were dirty, chairs were all dirty and sticky, dirty plates, ketchup and suryp on everything, and yes...thats butter smeared on the sign. All our food was either burnt or so greasy oily you couldn't eat it, the onion rings were one giant ball of sour onions and oil. I don't recommend this location. Only redeeming thing was the waitress we had, she was very nice If you're handicap like my grandfather is you will hate this location. The handicap parking is on the far side of the store away from the door.

Well, I went back after a while since last time. The waitress and waiters were all sitting in the back.

We were there for my brother's birthday with his friend. They saw us come in, usually fast service.

She sat there staring at us if we came in the wrong time. The guy got up with an apron on took cups off the table he saw us.

Not a single Hi, we will be right with you. Sit back down, and she sat there, putting her face into her knees as if she was tired.

I been to IHOP before like this 4 times with my brother, then my step dad and my mother God rest her soul before she passed.

We sat there like yesterday we even talked loud enough they could hear us. They sat there nothing, two ladies were sitting in booth like where's our food.

I told my brother that if they didn't get up, were gone!! They sat there looking at us like leave, so we got up, we were gone, not first time we left. Coralville location usually is dead, and we went to Cedat Rapids IHOP.

Not one was sitting, we got fast service but was kinda annoyed we came in. Serving us talking loud to her co-workers. They were dead we were only customer's in the building until two guys came in acting like thugs would not take their hoodies down glaring at us. We got our food and my brother was happy, but nothing free for his birthday, only coins, no special treatment. He told her it was his birthday

Cars from Texas Roadhouse were pulling in their parking lot. That was rude. I paid $44 dollars got 6 back she asked me if I wanted the change out of $50. They were gossiping loudly between workers could have been quiet.

I told her I wanted my change she looked at me as if I killed her. That made me feel like Wow, Coralville's didn't want to serve us.

Now she wants to keep all my money i took him out for his birthday more miles than I wanted to go, but he insisted on IHOP.

The gull makes you feel like really what happened to being polite, friendly, and not greedy, we got cheap plates still $44 dollar's breakfast menu.

I work for company takes care of elderly if we acted like that we'd be shut down. We drove over 99.6 miles to Coralville, Iowa. And another 21.7 to Cedar Rapids IHOP.

Then 104 back home gas is not cheap being mad at Coralville and then Cedar Rapids pulling it bad day. Bring a franchise to Ottumwa or...

Upon entering into foyer/ lobby area there was a podium with "wait to be seated" posted, but no hostess in sight. Approx 4-5 minutes later a woman walked over & asked us to have a seat until she could seat us. We waited almost 20 additional min to be seated. During the waiting time 5 more groups of people entered into lobby. 1 party of 3 & one couple left without anyone approaching them or attempting to explain WHY we all standing/sitting around doing nothing. When we were called for seating the woman said "whoever is next can come on too" So a man, woman & 2 under 3 followed along. Our order was taken in about 10 min. Mine Simple order of 2 eggs fried medium, 2 sausage links,& 2 white lightly toasted. Hubs: 2 pancakes, 2 med fried eggs, 2 bacon & 2 links. 10 min. Still waiting. 15 min. Still waiting. 20 min went in search of anyone. 23 min. Trapped a person in corner & inquired where food might be? Told I'll check as they half ran into kitchen. Another 10 min and hangry 6'5" husband gets up & starts lumbering toward kitchen in search of food (his or anyone else's he can find). Just steps from the kitchen the door swings open & a person with a tray of food emerges. The food arrives 2 steps behind him. His order? Perfectly executed. Mine? My eggs are fried hard. Links are links. Toast? Missing in action. 5 min pass before server re-emerges. 7 min later a plate with 2 pieces DARKLY toasted WHEAT bread is handed to me.( Sigh of disappointment) husband says "YOU can do wheat" ok. I pick up cold toast to eat with cold eggs & links and I Discover there is NO, NOT ANY AS IN NONE, NOT A SWIPE, OR A SMEAR OF ANY BUTTER ON ANY OF THE 4 LONELY TRIANGLES OF BURNT WHEAT BREAD TRYING TO BE TOAST. I look across the booth @ the satiated smile (with a few crumbs in his moustache) of my husband & told him, I'll be in the car & if you leave a tip... I will gut you while you're sleeping. It cost $24 & 2 hours to learn that IHOP...
