Very surprised at the attitude of our 1st human contact. We walked in, around 2 sets of people who were walking out. We walked to what I would call a receptionist area or desk, but there was No one to say hello, absoultely nothing. However 2 "waitress" looking people, walked to a small computer/kiosk area just steps from this reception desk but not one acknowledged us or said anything! Someone from the bar side walked by, again saying nothing. We were there long enough (5 minutes-ish) to think - let's just go sit at a table - so we did. After a bit of discussion between us and realizing we didn't have a menu, I got up to go get 2 menu's. I was planning to go to the receptionist area and look for menus. Then I saw a younger man dressed in obviously Not waitress attire, a dress shirt and slacks who walked into the receptionist area and was heading to go back where he came from, when I requested or asked.."could we get some menu's, please?"... In an almost rude reply - I was asked if we had menus, I said "no", then in a stunned voice said no one sat you? You have no menus or anything, again I said "no" and then in this quite loud voice emulating from almost the receptionist desk, he stated "this area is closed, (motioning with his hand as if the entire flow was set) you will have to move, let me see if I can find you" ...as he turned from me, reaching for (yep) menus and 2 black fabric napkin wound sets of silverware and finished saying ..."a place".... Then a moment later, walked out a bit closer to me and said, "you'll have to move here". Pointing to the right an empty table in-between 2 other full tables. It was not far, just a different set tables. After which, we moved to the requested table. Then as he was walking by his comment was something along the words of ... "And if you need me I'm walking around". I still thought this might be our waiter. I apologized to my husband for choosing this place for my Mother's Day meal tonight and he said it's not you, "let's just see how it goes". Well, our lovely waitress showed up very shortly after, she was dressed in the black waitress attire and she was fantastic! A very pleasant person to deal with, smiling a lot and seemed to be on the ball even with taking care of the tables on either side of us. We ordered and our salads arrived quickly. Just after our meals were set down in front of us, I noticed the table we had first sat in-was being seated. Our Waitress was truly quite good. The food was very good also. However, if that younger gent was a manager, he has a long way to go. His manners, his attitude and his belittling attitude should be addressed by upper management. We received NO apology, NO, I'm so sorry you were left to find your own seat, NO my mistake, let me help you, I'm going to see you have a table with a great waitress.... NOTHING of the kind. He was obviously busy and we obviously were 'In The Wrong' to even think to seat ourselves. (Although there was no signage either way posted, just a complete lack of ANYONE who seemed to care!) So my advise to anyone, be aware and be sure someone literally seats You! Other than that, the food is quite good and cooked exactly as requested. It was a nice dining experience, other than the demeaning attitude portrayed by our first encounter at Longhorns in...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went to Longhorn after a long absence to give it another try as we have both had bad experiences at this location. We were prepared to have a nice night out, but it was anything but. We received our buzzer from the hostess who was very nice and took a seat at the bar for a before dinner drink. From the time the bartender saw we were waiting for a table, she was completely unconcerned with us. My girlfriend requested a second drink after the bartender had already tossed our check face up to us on the bar. She poured the draft and the keg went out. The carbonation splashed some beer on her and she walked out of the bar area complaining loudly that it had splashed on her face. She then comes back plops the beer in front of my girlfriend saying "The keg went out. We'll get you another one." Clearly, she does not want a beer that has left our line of sight that might now have something in it. The trainee who was learning was very nice and offered her another type of draft. We paid our tab and went to our table.
Our server was very nice and tried very hard. We ordered apps, wine with dinner, a medium rare filet with a "signature side", and a medium rare filet with lobster tail. My steak came out nicely as it was the 7oz. She ordered the 9oz that when it was served to her it had clearly been cut into 2 times during preparation to check the temp which created almost 3 separate steaks. One of which was clearly over cooked being completely grey throughout the section. We sent the steak back to have it corrected. Afterwards, the manager comes back to the table with the steak that had just sent back with it cut open on the opposite side that had not been cut to check temp. Obviously the thickest portion was cooked to the correct temp, but we didn't order half a steak that is cooked properly. When the manager asked what was wrong with the steak, my girlfriend pointed out the cut marks that were cooked through. I could not believe that we were having to explain to a steakhouse manager that yes half of the meat was correctly cooked, but half of it was not. We attempted to pay for our meal that we were now not going to be staying to eat after the treatment we had received. We were informed that there would be no charge. We left the half of the cheese fries that we had already boxed up, a tip for our server that was working hard, and left. We will...
Read moreUnfortunately, this visit was one of the worst dining experiences Iâve had in a long time. Things started off a little slow, but the food did arrive fairly quickly. I ordered the chopped steak, which was supposed to be cooked medium rare. When it arrived, not only was part of the inside rare, but there was also a thin, papery onion skin laid across the top of the steak â clearly not part of the presentation.
When the waitress checked in, I handed her the onion skin, and she apologized. Shortly after, I pointed out the issue with the steak. Her response was, âDo you want us to put it back on the grill for you?â I handed her the plate along with my loaded baked potato. She returned not long after with a steaming plate and asked me to check if it was now acceptable. I cut into it and saw that it was completely well done.
When she returned, I told her it was now overcooked, but said not to worry about it. Still, something didnât sit right. The steak looked like the exact same piece, with the same number of mushrooms. When I moved the gravy aside, the meat was clearly burnt. It felt like someone in the kitchen was being spiteful.
I asked to speak with the manager. A young man came to the table â unfortunately, I didnât catch his name â and his tone was dismissive right from the start. I explained what happened, and he responded, âI see itâs a little overcooked.â I told him no, it was burnt. I am pretty confident the original steak had simply been thrown back on the grill, microwaved with the same sides, and served again. The trust was completely gone at that point.
He did offer to make a new one or bring something else, but I declined. At that point, I didnât trust the kitchen or the handling of the food. He did assure me the meal would be removed from the bill.
He then asked my mom how her meal was, and she mentioned that her Brussels sprouts were burnt. The manager tried to explain the cooking method, saying thatâs just how they look â but my mom responded, âThen why do they taste burnt?â
I usually have great experiences at LongHorn, but tonight was a major exception â and I definitely wonât be returning to...
