I love ramen. I've visited all the ramen places in Portland, except for one, which wasn't particularly impressive.
The ramen here is fantastic. Its crazily delicious!!! I tried the Tonkotsu ramen, where the pork was boiled and then torched to add a smoky flavor, exploding with tenderness and flavor in my mouth.
The noodles had a chewiness rather than the usual firm texture, which I really enjoyed.
The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful. I still remember the deep and thick broth Especially, the juices flowing from the generously topped mushrooms created a taste reminiscent of a very rich Portobello soup.
I'm not sure if it was intentional by the chef, but I could taste a variety of flavors from start to finish while eating the ramen. I was deeply moved to find such amazing food at such reasonable prices in an unexpected place.
I also ordered a roll and it was delicious, with fresh fish and a perfect balance of flavors. I definitely want to come back next time to try the sushi.
The ramen here is so delicious. I highly recommend trying the Tonkotsu ramen if you...
Read moreWe were immediately greeted and able to pick our own booth to sit. Very nice seats and high enough for disabled, although not too high. Menus were very clean and nice presentation from the get-go. In the back there is a (for customers) restroom. Very clean restaurant.
The combination plate is perfect for someone that wants an all-around good pick of sushi, salad, and miso soup (good depth of flavor). One of the rolls had really nice cut up cucumber strips I believe it was, so fresh. Miso soup had amazing flavor. Also ordered 2 of the special rolls, Baked Salmon Roll and Balcony Roll. Very distinct and different flavors. Very fresh! Choice of lesser salt soy sauce.
They had appetizers on the menu, but we didn't try them, and a good variety of drinks. Highly recommend this casual fancy restaurant. They are just quick enough if you're in a rush, but we had time and enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend! We...
Read moreMy wife and I have been wanting to try here for awhile. We went today, a Saturday. We really wanted a bento style meal, since they are sushi and teriyaki seemed like good odds they have them. We arrive, greeted right away, we sit with our menus. They do offer bento means, however only on weekdays. I asked if I can still order one, but the price would be more. Not an option. Ok, my wife asks if he could do the noodles without veggies, No not an option. Ok, can we order a combo meal, and switch the soup out for some rice. Nope not an option, they said rice costs more, we said we would pay the difference. Nope not an option. We decide this isnt the place for us, but try one roll, the Cornelius roll. It was great, and made in good time. It was $14 which seems about right for a roll that size.
Overall, I would love to like this place, but the lack of any modification options to things on the menu makes it hard...
