I have lived in Corpus Christi 10 years and have dined at many different restaurant venues. HANDS DOWN Andy's kitchen was the absolute best experience I've ever had here to date. The Server Omar was FANTASTIC!! Not once did I have to ask him for anything he was on topof every thing from drink refills to clearing plates away which was Excellent because there was a 30 minute wait for a table my party was seated at the counter and space was minimal but Omar who had a fair amount of tables to tend to was never lacking.I myself have worked in food service for the better part of my adult life (30 years give or take) I've covered every position there is from the foh (front of house) to the boh (back of house) and everything in between. I've worked with as many different kinds of people as you can imagine from wait staff to management and never in all my time working have I seen or visited a more comfortingly quaint dining establishment. Andy's has an old thyme theme to it (a bit like Cracker Barrel) like many others, but where so many others fall short Andy's comes off as genuinely authentic. The ambiance of the place gave me a deeply nostalgic feeling like I was back home in the small country towns of Johnson County where I spend the vast majority of my life. I don't Normally go to such lengths to acknowledge people in this way but Andy's Kitchen left me with the most pleasant feeling I've ever experienced and I felt they needed to be recognized as small a thing as my opinion is I was Thoroughly impressed. Andy's you just got a lifelong customer. Thanks to everyone on staff for creating such an enjoyable experience. Sincerely,...
Read moreAndy's Country Kitchen: A Local Gem Where the Trains Run on Time (and the food is like home cooking). On a quest for authentic local flavor in Corpus Christi, Google led us to Andy's Country Kitchen, and boy, are we glad it did! We rolled in around noon, expecting a wait, but were whisked right to a table. Score one for immediate gratification! Stepping inside, you immediately realize this isn't your average chain restaurant. The decor is a delightful mix of aged wood, an abundance of greenery, and – wait for it – a model train that chugs along above your head! It's not fancy or trendy, but it's got a unique, quirky charm that just feels fun. Yes, it's a bit cozy (some might say "snug," especially when it's bustling), but they're clearly maximizing space to get all that deliciousness out to the hungry masses. Our server was efficient and friendly, guiding us through a menu loaded with comforting foods, including breakfast. And comforting it was! This is good, hearty, honest-to-goodness downhome cooking. The portions are generous and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. The prices? Very fair for the quality and quantity – a rare and beautiful thing these days. What truly sealed the deal for me was the distinct lack of obvious tourists. This felt like a genuine local hangout, which, as a discerning traveler, I wholeheartedly appreciate. If I lived in Corpus Christi, I'd be a regular fixture at Andy's. It's the kind of place where you leave feeling full, and happy. Don't expect white tablecloths; expect good food, good vibes, and maybe a little elbow room negotiation. Highly recommend for a truly...
Read moreThis dinner is so different starting from the complementary warm muffins they serve you once you arrive to your table. Be aware that waiting time always is going to be expected if you want to avoid it call in advance and made your reservation. We await but for a Holiday morning it wasn't too bad, we awaited about 20 minutes!! The host is so funny we had good time watching him while we awaited for our table he also was a little rude with the buzzer, this nice man from the kitchen was picking up the plates from our table and asked us a couple of questions he was very friendly and was just telling us to come back and the host yelled at him to finish picking up the table. I should give 4 stars just because of the host behavior with his co-workers, I just hope he can be less aggressive and more gentle with his peers. In the other hand we have very nice and respectful waitresses and waiters they were busy with a busy breakfast rush but always bringing coffe refills to everyone! I liked the train that goes around the dinner not sure you but when I see a train in a dinner I always can tell the food is great. I didn't mistake this time , food was so delicious. I recommend this place an be ready for a loud host but with good food and good...
