We arrived on a Saturday right when they opened at 11 a.m. A DJ was already set up playing house and moombah, which gave the place a relaxed, fun vibe. We brought our dogs and were glad to see it was dog friendly with plenty of seating options. There were regular chairs, high chairs, Adirondack-style seats, bench tables, and umbrella-covered spots. Lots of places to sit and spread out.
We went inside to the bar first and noticed they made carajillos. We ordered a couple before getting food. They were excellent—espresso with Licor 43 and a touch of orange. The flavor was rich with a hint of citrus, and they were only ten bucks, which felt like a steal.
Food is ordered separately from a walk-up window or using a QR code. It was their first weekend rolling out the QR system, and there was a glitch. When we ordered through our phones, someone else’s order ended up on our tab. Not a big deal—they voided it and fixed it at the window.
For food, we had the fajita steak hash, ahi tuna tostadas, croissant beignets, and empanadas. The hash was solid. The eggs were cooked just right, the steak was tender, and the potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. The tostadas had great flavor. The tuna was fresh, and the sauce on top blended citrus, spice, herbs, and cheese in a balanced way. The empanadas were golden and crispy on the outside, with soft, spicy potato filling inside. The beignets were standout—bite-sized, puffy, and packed with flavor. They came with two sauces: a chocolate one and a creamy vanilla-orange sauce that paired perfectly without overpowering.
Overall, the food and drinks were excellent. The QR code issue was a hiccup, but hopefully it’s fixed now. The only downside was the subwoofer. It made the place vibrate a bit too much and felt unnecessary. It was also a little warm, and more fans would have helped, but it is summer so it’s understandable. Good spot to hang out, and being dog friendly is...
Read moreThis bar appears to be a fantastic location to hang. The games are a great time, they had chess, checkers, Jenga, and cornhole out when we were there. The games, food trucks, and patios set a great atmosphere and ensure for a good time. They offer the known domestic beers, some craft beers, and a considerable selection of unique mixed drinks.
My single, most, and quite significant gripe with this bar is their blatant disregard for customer appreciation... I was drinking whisky on the rocks, a known simple and universal drink. I have nothing to say about the first drink it seemed sufficient. The second drink was questioned upon the ordering of the third, someone that I was with verified that he did indeed see the bartender pour the correct drink. The real problem occurred when the bartender poured the third drink. I explicitly remember watching the bartender pour a single ounce into my cup, noted as incorrect for this simple drink... While this may seem petty for me to see or mention, it is simply wrong for someone to sell half the product for the same amount of money. I am not a confrontational person, which is why I never said anything before I left Corpus, but this still bothers me as I understand a legal right of bartenders is to cut someone off. But it is in no way legal for them to serve half of the product for the SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY. They may think people do not notice, but they do. As rediculous as it sounds... Imagine getting served half of a meal because a waitress thinks you look full? Is that understandable or right to allow employees to do? No.
My recommendation to anybody in the area is to go to this place, have fun, enjoy your time, but watch what the servers are doing as I do not believe this was a 'simple mistake' she (bartender) was not friendly in the slightest...
Read moreI love visiting Corpus especially going to new places that has opened since the last time I was home. Sadly, going to BUS was a mistake. The service was absolutely awful. The bartenders were so rude. I’d been home for a baby shower and most of our family went to this place bcuz it looked fun and allowed kids. We waited for 15 mins before I got served and when we did the bartender just asked, what do you want and once the drinks were ready just shoved them my way. My brother and uncle were right next to me and 20 mins later they still were not served and gave up. I went to say something and they didn’t even care, they were just smug and rude. We closed out and left to go the Goldfish that was right down the street. That place was awesome, bartenders were nice and smiling nothing like the awful bartenders at BUS. Do yourself a favor and don’t come to this place and rather go to...
