I was extremely disappointed in the way we were treated at Ramen Legend last night (5/12/21)
One of my family members has a severe allergy to fish - consumption of fish will cause an anaphylactic reaction, restriction of the airway, and respiratory distress. Nasty stuff. We are always extremely careful when we eat out to double check ingredients and alert restaurant staff to avoid accidental exposure to fish.
We ordered the Shoyu Beef Ramen for that person as part of a to-go order. As always, we alerted the staff to the allergy, even though none of our food should have any fish. When we got home and unpacked the bag, we realized that there was a fish cake in that order.
I called the restaurant and they confirmed that they put a fish cake in the Shoyu Beef Ramen dish. I explained to the seriousness of the allergy, and said that a fish cake was not listed in the ingredients for that dish on their own website. The owner said that it was added in to make the plate look prettier, and that it was my responsibility to tell them if I didn't want it (how can I know that an ingredient that can kill me is going to be put on my dish, or request an item to be left off when it's omitted from the ingredient list??). I asked if it could be remade without the fish cake. The owner initially agreed but upon my asking more questions, I found out that both the beef broth and the pork broth contain fish as well. I asked for a refund because we were unable to enjoy any part of our meal due to the fish ingredients, which again, were not listed on their website menu.
When I arrived at the restaurant to return my order, not one single word was spoken to me by the wait staff. They went to get the owner from the back, he checked my bag to make sure everything was there, opened the till, took out the cash that was due to me, and said "Here you go." That was it. No apology, no offer to make it right, nothing.
If you're reading this and you have a severe allergy, you already know my plight. There are many, many places in Corpus Christi that are sensitive to those with allergies and take the proper precautions to ensure that person can enjoy a safe, delicious meal. However, Ramen Legend is not one of those places. In the end we ordered sushi from one of our tried and true favorite places - they happily accepted our order including several special requests to omit imitation crab or eel sauce.
If you are the owner and are reading this, I have noticed you have replied on several negative reviews asking them if you can make it right. Please do not respond here; you had an opportunity last night to discuss my concerns and reach a resolution, and you specifically chose not to. Don't reach out now simply because I'm airing my concern on a public forum. Last night was our first time visiting your restaurant, and it will definitely...

I got the spicy miso The bowl design is user-friendly, making it easy to handle and enjoy the soup. However, I prefer wider and girthier bowls.
In terms of taste, if you're looking for tang or spice, this ramen may not be the right choice. The level of spice is quite mild, similar to cinnamon, and it doesn't quite capture the authenticity of Japanese ramen. It feels more like a homemade version with firm noodles. The color of the dish doesn't blend well, lacking the vibrant red and spice you might expect.
The meat doesn't seem to blend well with the soup, and the lentils have great flavor but could use more crunch. Unfortunately, there's no shredded lettuce, and the seaweed tends to clump up, which is not ideal. The broth is smooth but lacks a spicy kick.
On the positive side, the noodles absorb the smoothness of the soup effectively, and the egg is a highlight. It's crafted with attention to detail and complements the soup wonderfully, adding great texture. The cream is silky smooth, but it might not provide the satisfying finish you'd hope for. The lack of spices on the table is a drawback and plate to hold the laddle
In terms of value, this ramen is quite expensive and may not be worth the price for what is essentially an "ehh" soup spent 40 bucks for 2 , 1 meal each.
The ambiance is clean, and the robot service is sweet but can be a bit annoying. The syrup for the soda is good, and the chairs are comfortable in the booth.
Overall, Ramen Legend has its strengths, but it falls short in some areas, especially for those seeking an authentic Japanese ramen experience. The high price may not be justified for the quality...
Read moreI’m a Huge Ramen Nerd. I had high expectations for this place based off of the reviews I’ve seen. However, this was the most disgusting ramen I’ve ever had. I can’t even fathom how terrible it was. I did not even finish. I took 3 slurps of noodles and I was done. I tried to stomach it and I couldn’t. My stomach ached for like a good hour. The broth was bland, leading to me to believe they forgot the tare. The aromatic oil smelled strongly of pork scum, as if they forgot to remove during the blanching process. Their charshu was mushy and flavorless. Their Ajitama egg was seasoned but had little to no flavor and over cooked. The only flavorful thing in my bowl was the bacon. The Noodles were decent with a firm cook. The spice level was non existent. We ordered the pork gyoza, which were decent but had better and made better. My wife enjoyed the dragonfruit Margarita. She too could not stomach her bowl. I ordered the Spicy 3 Pork Ramen and she ordered the Spicy Miso Pork Ramen. Our waiter was tentative to us and noticed our dissatisfaction, although my wife did not want me to cause a scene. We wastefully paid our 85 dollars took our ramen , and tossed it in the trash where it belongs. Please DO NOT COME HERE!!
NOTE: The way the bowl looked is the way it was served at least clean the RIM to make it look decent.
P.S. I’m so grotesque lookin at it …PLEASE QUIT TRYIN TO SAVE MONEY WHERE YOU CAN, AND FOCUS BACK ON THE BASIC. 1. Broth, 2. Tare, 3. Aromatic Oil, 4. Noodles, and 5. Toppings. IF YOU WANT A RUNNING EGG THAT LAST AT LEAST 3-4 DAYS COOK IT FOR...
