What I've eaten so far:
Carne Asada Nachos:
These were delicious, I would go so far as to say these were the best carne asada nachos I've ever had. Every bite was so full of flavor I didn't want to stop. I'll be returning to try the other meat options for the nachos.
Birria Tacos:
While I have had Birria before I have not had it many times, and I would put these as on par with the previous best. I was told that the flavor is more of a bland profile which is not particularly my preference but they were still very good.
Environment:
The building is quite large, which will give them room to grow as I see this restaurant becoming more popular. Actually, I think the potential to have evening entertainment or games is there with how much room there is on the south side of the restaurant. Parking is also ample.
Service:
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, and you can see right into the kitchen which gives a good sense of transparency and quality control you don't get in most restaurants.
Cons:
So far after only one visit the only possible problem I can see is the location, it is tucked away on the far end of 9th street which means by default there will be less business since it may be out of the way for many people. I can't help but think with the quality of the food if it were a downtown location it would be extremely popular.
I'll be updating this review if/when future...
Read moreDang, this place is good. Sometimes you can't go by reviews, but the ones for this place are correct. Super fresh, carefully prepared food. From the grilled onion and jalapeno garnish (thank you for this nice touch!), to the sauces and flavorful, tender meat...they nailed it! Fast and hospitable service. They had some menu items we didn't recognize and the server kindly and patiently gave us the rundown. So, definitely try the governador taco (if you can eat shrimp). It is really unique blast of flavors, peppers/cheese/onion and then fried in cheese. The carnitas and adobado pork were tender and full of slow-cooked goodness. Hot, fresh chips w a delicious bean dip. They'll bring you some salsas to try too. Good choices for draft beer and agua fresca (served in a traditional clay cup). Can't wait to come back w the whole family since they have food...
Read moreI happened upon this place looking for something to eat. Just happened to be the first day they were open. Grabbed a carnitas burrito. I first have to say it was a really good burrito. It was a little on the spendy side though, smaller than other burritos of the same style at other restaurants, and didn’t come with anything. Even a side of chips and salsa would have made it more worth the money. I have had burritos at most of the places in town and this was the most expensive for the size. The restaurant looked like it was still in the process of being put together so I won’t hold that against them, just had the menus printed out on white printer paper. Really friendly staff. I’d like to try them again in the future after they get going. I’d recommend trying this place, just hope they start offering a little more...
