This was definitely the last time I will be going to a Great Clips. I've had terrible experiences in the past at other locations, but this particular location made up my mind for good. Never, ever again.
Long story short: Irritable and gloomy employees, as well as botchy work. They seemed more intent on getting me out of the chair as fast as possible rather than listening to what I was looking for.
Long story: Six months ago, I donated my hair, as I do ever few years, and got a professional A-line cut (NOT at Great Clips). I loved it and it looked great, but after 6 months, it had lost its shape and appeal. So yesterday I went to Great Clips and told the stylist that I wanted a trim, but that I also may want to get rid of the A-line altogether. After a completely cold and silent 15 minutes (perhaps she was having a rough day, granted), she shows me the final product and I still really didn't like the way the A-line looked, so I said so and she responded in a very irritated tone of voice and facial expression, "do you want me to go shorter?". I felt uncomfortable because of the way she said it and how she was looking at me, so I simply said no, paid and tipped generously for that kind of treatment and left. When I got home, I was frustrated with myself for not being more assertive and telling her what I wanted, so I called the acting manager on staff and explained my situation. I was very clear about not wanting an A-line anymore, and even asked her to notate that specifically. She told me to come back and she'd fix it no charge because she's "good at everything", as she put it. So I went in this afternoon, she thanked me for coming back, and I told her I simply wanted everything evened out. She seemed to know what I meant, and she started cutting away. When she finished, I said that it still looked like I had an A-line. She said, "yeah, you do! I just evened everything out for you." Oh boy. I had about had it at this point, but I clarified as calmly as I could that I no longer wanted an A-line and that that was what I explained to her in detail yesterday. She unapologetically kept cutting and when she again showed me the end result, the right side was a very obvious inch and a half longer than the left. So, she kept cutting. And cutting. And cutting. And when I said, "if it's even now, we can just leave it as is," she seemed affronted and her tone quickly changed from copacetic to confrontational as she explained that she was just doing a check and this is all a part of "the process". When all was said and done, the finished look was not desirable. Nevertheless, I offered to tip before I left, but she did not accept. So I left, full of disappointment and regret, but also a firm resolve never to let another Great Clips employee touch...
Read moreI received a Great Clips gift card from my sister and her Fiance. I have a hairstylist, and she is wonderful, but have been unable to get in to see her due to a budget short fall, in a long time. I needed a haircut, plain and simple, and very badly especially with an event coming soon. I did some online research specific to location, pricing and services offered and decided I would try out the Corvallis store. I really liked the online check-in that was very convenient and the time I needed there was only an 8 minute wait time. I arrived to the salon and was greeted by my stylist Shawn. She checked me in and asked me some questions, ie, how do you want your hair cut etc. I grabbed a hair style book from the lobby as I walked by so I could show her some pictures of what I was looking for, sometimes a visual is better than just my explanation of what I am trying to describe as a style. After a few minutes discussing my preferences and what I don't want in a haircut, Shawn got it and I asked for a shampoo. Shawn knows how to shampoo a head of hair let me tell you!!! Without even asking for anything extra or a " please scrub" she went to it, and it was heaven for sure! I received the standard 2 shampoos and a 2 minute at sink conditioner. But the scalp massage was very nice. Shawn commenced to cutting my hair and made small talk, as a professional would, just to get to know me, and me to know her, building a relationship needed for future interactions. I get the Great Clips business model, it's a quick cut and go kind of place, and that is fine, but for me, I want a little more and that is what I received from Shawn. She read me like a open book. She shampooed me, gave me a precise haircut one that I wanted, and even blow dried my hair (not discussed and not charged) enough so that I did not leave her chair with a wet head, and she did the one thing that I think most hairstylist miss when blow drying, they automatically pick up a brush!! Not needed, Shawn used her hand with the blow dryer and went to working with my own freshly cut hair and natural body to get the majority of moisture from it and then was able to manage the style as needed enough to get me out the door looking pretty dog gone cute!. I will be back to see Shawn for sure as she and I clicked on so many levels. Shawn is an experienced Hairstylist, is confident, friendly and knowledgeable of her craft. Thanks so much Shawn, see you in a...
Read moreI usually have a very positive rating for this shop, but this time the individual that cut my hair ended up not doing a good job at all.
I asked for her to basically keep the same cut and take an inch off the back. When she finished and I looked at it; it seemed to be fine. However when I washed my hair the next day and tried to feather it back it didn't blend in together.
It feathers back then there's a break of space where no hair blends back and then it starts feathering back again. Doesn't blend and doesn't look very attractive either. Giving how busy I've been since I had my haircut and I have to drive down 45 minutes to get it done I've not gone back to try to get it fixed. I probably just won't be going back they're in the future to get my haircut either considering that I had such a bad experience there this time.
I wouldn't recommend going there unless you have a stylist that you already work with because the young lady that helped me didn't appear to know how to do her...
