Mr. J's Deli — Restaurant in Cranford

I always order the Dagwood or the Big Will.

This place equals to Good food at reasonable prices. It's my favorite spot for a quick meal when I WFH or when I am home for whatever reason.

Their breakfasts are great, it's always hard to decide between pancakes, waffles, omelettes & the classic breakfast sandwiches.

They can even tweak them a little bit to your taste. For example a typical Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese with Green peppers and Onions is pure perfection.

Each time I don't feel like making breakfast, my family knows that they are getting a treat (Mr J's)

Update 2020 - Forward: The new owner Angelo has been a huge improvement to the place overall. He has introduced daily specials which are amazing. My personal favorite is the Gang of Greens sandwich. We wanted to give Mr. J’s a try for lunch. Breakfast is good. The sandwich meat (ham and salami) tasted like bologna, and the fold of the sandwiches were mushy wet from vinegar. The ham was sliced really thick like Dak packaged ham we used to eat in the school lunchroom when we were kids. It tasted like it too. We order the sandwiches with salt, pepper, oregano, oil & vinegar, and they just tasted bland. There were a few slices of really thick ham, two or three thin slices of salami, and provolone but it just wasn’t good. The roast beef was good and a perfect medium-rare. Mr. J’s prices are a little less than others, but I don’t know what it is but the sandwiches are not as tasty or as good. We always go to Subology and order the same exact thing and the sandwiches just taste much...

On a recommendation of a local I visited Mr. J's Deli in Cranford. First, my walk thru downtown Cranford was very enjoyable. The local vendors each have a well thought out Halloween display and drew my attention many times! Now on to lunch at Mr. J's. The recommendation was to try the Corn beef Sloppy Joe... so i did. I didnt know what to expect, I kinda was expecting a traditional sloppy Joe with corn beef.. well its a double decker sandwich with excellent coleslaw and a lot of excellent corn beef. The rye bread had just enough thousand island and more then enough meat. We also had the Smoke House Wrap and a traditional Ruben. Everything was exceptional.
