I want to give this place more stars because the pizza is actually quite good. However, I am just greatly disappointed in how they have handled the situation regarding the fact that I was charged for a pizza that I never received.
My family and I have been going to Scaturro's for a long time and have given them a ton of business. On July 3rd, I ordered a pie from them through Seamless and received the email confirmation that the pie was on its way. After over an hour of waiting I attempt to call Scaturro's directly multiple times to see what is taking so long, to no avail. The phone just kept ringing and no one would answer. There was no voice message informing us if they were open or closed. This was quite annoying. I then jump in the car and drive to the facility only to find it closed. What's worse is the 2 days later I see that my credit card was charged for the pizza. I called Scaturro's and spoke with either the manager or owner (not sure which one) and explained the situation. He let me know that he was aware of the problem (as this happened to other people that day - Scaturro's closed early but Seamless still thought that they were open) and that my credit card would be credited within the next week or two. Fine. Cool. I can work with that.
Almost a month goes by and I still have not seen the credit to my account, so I head into Scaturro's directly to speak with them (and I ordered more food. I wasn't going to let this discrepancy stop me from continuing to support them). Again, I spoke with a gentleman who was either the manager or the owner and told him the story (maybe it was the same guy from the phone earlier). I told him that I have yet to receive any credit to my account. I showed him all of the evidence of the transactions. He even recorded the Seamless transaction order so he could do some "investigation". It's been 3-4 weeks and I still have yet to see anything about this.
Why is it taking so long? Do I have to go back in there a 3rd time before they just say "Sorry sir, let me just reimburse you for the money that you were charged." Why didn't they do that when I came in to see them in their restaurant?
At this point I no longer want to support this restaurant. We are not talking about a huge amount of money here, but its the principle of the matter now. It bothers me that after taking my information twice, the people who run this restaurant do not seem to have the desire to fix this situation. Even though I am a multiple time paying customer, I am not a part of their priorities and they 1) forgot about what they said they were going to do (by reimbursing me) - TWICE!! 2) are putting their heads in the sand and hoping this goes away or 3) they just don't care.
Very, very...
Read moreLast day of our NYC visit and my family was beat & starving after all the walking around Manhattan & navigating the subways/ transit to return to Cranford, NJ where we parked our car at a friends house. It was late night and we wanted one more slice of heaven before our next long drive to southern Delaware, when our friend recommended Scaturro’s Pizzaria & Cafe. Being a family of four, everyone wanted a different slice, and they accommodated us with no questions. They even made a fresh pie so we could have two slices. The owner Francesco introduced himself and enhanced our experience with conversation about the area and his recipes. I had a slice of the sausage, which was amazing, you can tell it’s fresh ground and not some store bought frozen brand. The pasta dishes surrounding us looked legit and I was tempted to order the Fettuccine Alfredo after three other tables ordered it right next to us. The atmosphere & owner made us feel like we were invited to eat in his home and we weren’t just another transaction, but a friend visiting for dinner. It was a byob, so the table next to us shared a glass of white with my wife when we tried to order some. My daughter even surprised us when she crowned her Margherita slice even better than Brooklyn’ Famous Grimaldi’s which we had earlier for lunch and at the time was her favorite of all time. If you get the chance, skip the fast food and experience life with Francesco’s authentic Italian eatery, you’ll love the vibe & food. The prices also didn’t break the bank, which is very welcomed for families living through...
Read moreWent in at about 3PM on a Friday. Ordered a plain slice. Pizza was not even good enough to want to finish the slice, but worse, this place is completely noncompliant with Covid19 Rules. The only person wearing a mask was the counter person. No one by the cooking or prep area was wearing one. Even worse than that, there was a gentleman sitting at a table next to a pile of receipts not wearing a mask, an he VIOLENTLY SNEEZED THREE TIMES!!!! WITH NO MASK!!!!. He then got up and walked part way through the restaurant to the restroom still not wearing a mask. Will never, ever go back. If they don't care enough about their customers to keep them safe, then I guess they don't need customers to frequent...
