As a Rhode Island native, I try not to give into the peer pressure of praising a restaurant only for the fact of it being a Rhode Island staple, However, what is there to complain about at Chelo's? My wife and I visited this location last night after doing some house shopping in the area. Our waiter Rob provided excellent service. He made us feel welcome and invited me to try a beer that certainly would not be a normal choice for me, the Queen's Porter, but at 1.50 for a Tall, what did I have to lose? I did not regret taking his suggestion and even ordered a short of the same beer later in the night. As for the food? You get the best of both worlds at Chelo's. On the one hand you can get the Clam Cakes and chowder that you've been ordering for decades and not be the least but disappointed. On the other hand, they offer an excellent seasonal menu full of options that you want to try, you find it hard to choose just one thing. My wife and I each started off with clam cakes and chowder and then shared (but came nowhere close to finishing) a strawberry caprese salad. We were full but as we were enjoying our date so much we decided to endulge in a slice of strawberry cheesecake. EVERYTHING that was brought to our table was delicious and was delivered by a friendly server who was easy to talk to. By the end of the night we had each had our own plate, shared a seasonal salad, had dessert, and each had enjoyed multiple drinks. What was the total? It wasn't $80, or even $60, our bill came out to just $51. We were...
Read moreI agree with Kim Price. She had a problem with the bartender . Let me guess her name was Carla. I was avoiding for over 45 minutes. I had to weigh them down for mozzarella sticks it was 3 minutes to five for the half price appetizers. Then I wanted to order food. At least another 45 minutes went by and I'm still waiting to get my order taken. Finally she comes up to me and asked me if I want another beer I said well I was waiting 45 minutes to order food. I said it in a normal tone of voice. She said it's screaming your head off at me saying that didn't I walk by you and you didn't ask me I said well you should be asking me if I want anything and I'm saying it normally to her. And she keeps screaming and screaming and saying that I should have waved her down it's like really supposed to ask the customer and then she says well maybe you should just leave. And remind you she's screaming the whole time raising her voice and I'm talking normal to her. Then she felt she had to get a manager I'm the one that should have asked for the manager I wasn't yelling at her she was yelling at me. I work in a store and if I yelled at somebody like that I would have been fired on the spot we had a girl that worked there for over 20 years and because she was rude to the customer she got fired on the spot. I don't know how she can get away with talking to somebody that's screaming at somebody and not losing her job at my place we would have. Steer...
Read moreMy family and I always order from this chelos the food is great no complaints. When we usually order we order through door dash delivery but this Friday October 22nd I decided to take a drive and pick it up myself. The two young female hostess working in the front had the worst customer service they both ignored me which was very odd so I walked to the bar & grabbed a drink while waiting for my food. When DoorDash notified me that my food was ready I went back to the front to let the hostess know my food was ready once again I was ignored by the young girl with the ponytails and bleu eyes she continue to sit others and was very rude. If she was busy all she had to say was wait a minute. It almost made me feel like am I being racially profiled here. Not sure what type of trainings these workers are getting but it’s important to teach these young workers proper work etiquette along with some cultural trainings. I just didn’t enjoyed being ignored and felt leaser then. It’s very important to greet customer and make them feel welcomed as I have always said good things about this chelos until now. You never know who people know and how this would effect your business in the long run. I hope a conversations/ trainings are put into place so this doesn’t occurred again. The young men that ended up helping me out was very pleasant. Unlike...
