Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Crystal Lake

I wish I could rate this with no stars because I had a horrible, frustrating experience. When I came in around 6:30 Nov 1st there was one worker making smoothies for a group of 4. Another worker was standing near the back talking with a friend, laughing and having fun. Nobody said welcome or anything. Being my first time there i waited in the line behind the people waiting for there order because I saw the big pick up sign by the register. The friend left and the second worker came to help finish the order. The first worker finished making what she was working on and went to stand by the register still without saying a word. Then another girl came in and nobody said a word to her either until she went by the register asking the girl a few questions. The second girl finished what she was making and the group of 4 left. Still nobody said a word to me. I then heard the girl by the cashier taking an order from the girl that came in after me so I asked the other girl why she's taking her order when she came in after me and I've been waiting this entire time. Instead of apologizing or anything, the worker at the register said well I never went by the register. I explained that the sign said pick up so I thought I had to order at the other end. This business is amazing. I come here several times a week and it has been great every single time. The food is delicious. I've never been much of wrap/flatbread person, but this place really does make the best flatbreads. My personal favorite is the chicken pesto flatbread. It has the perfect balance of ingredients that make it just melt in your mouth AND they carry a veggie meat substitute that is just as good as the grilled chicken that they normally use. They also always include a side with your entree which I appreciate. I love how easy it is to customize your order. I usually get the Beach bum smoothie (make it a combo with the flat bread and chips of course) with extra dark chocolate. All of this delicious food is served with a smile too. I was blown away by the staff's friendliness and attentiveness. I have gotten the pleasure of meeting several of the employee's and they are always so wonderful. I would also love to call attention to one of these outstanding employees, Amanada. She is fantastic and calls me by name now every-time I see her. It makes me feel like a person and not just another bill. In conclusion, this place has great food, fast service, and friendly employees. I would highly recommend this...

I love tropical especially this one, but I was disappointed a few days ago. My girlfriend and i had been wait long all day and no food due to work… we got smoothies from tropical. A sunrise sunset, and an island green. We called each other the next morning because BOTH of us were having a few issues in which are body wasn’t NOT agreeing with what we we had or ingested. I called the next morning because this clearly was abnormal and they were the only place we had all day. When I called the girl sounded apologetic but then proceeded to tell me ”well I’m in medical school and I know food poisoning needs 24 hours” !?!?! I didn’t even assume that. All I know is my friend and I both got sick and they were the only place we had. We said we would get a call back but I never received one.
