Mykonos Greek Grill — Restaurant in Culver City

I just love a place with heart. Greek is always an easy option, but once you’ve actually been to Greece, you’re understanding of what the caliber of greek food should be goes way up. And this place does not disappoint.

Let’s start with the restaurant storefront - it’s so adorable and well curated. The owner did most of the decor himself - the perfect Mykonos blue and white paint and hand made elements that look anything but. I loved it! Also big points for me for the cleanliness and social distance markers. And there is both indoor and outdoor seating. 💙🤍

We ordered the Gyro plate and the Chicken souvlaki plate which came with a lot of food, enough for leftovers or maybe even two people per entree if you’re a light eater. Each plate comes with salad, pita, tzatziki and your main. I’d say the real winner here is the Gyro meat - delish! The rice was just a little dry though if there is one thing I’d say could be improved - also could be that I got there a little before they closed. But what can I say? I’m a rice fanatic!

Terrible experience here and nothing authentic about their cuisine. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki plate. Unlike 99% of all other Greek restaurants, this platter did not come with Greek potatoes. The salad was tasteless and definitely not Greek. The rice was regular white rice. The ‘pita’ is definitely not a Greek style pita, more like a Mediterranean donair style. Not sure why they consider this. GREEK food. And icing on the cake was the chicken. It was chewy and after one bite I cut into it and it was pink and undercooked. I showed the waitress and she had to go to the back and ask the owners what to do. No apology! Felt sick to my stomach after eating. Owners refused to compensate or take anything off the bill. Where do I begin, literally everything at Mykonos Greek Grill tastes so delicious! The first time I walked in I wanted to sample everything so I ordered the combination plate which has beef skewers, chicken skewers, gyro, rice, and salad, not to mention the green sauce, Sam’s home made sauce: no idea what it is but be sure to order some of it, its too good! Ever since the first time I tried the food I’ve been coming in whenever I get the chance, only if I have room though, the food portion is quite large! Finally I’d like to end this review on Sam’s excellent hospitality, he truly knows how to treat customers and always makes sure everything is taken care of and beyond....
