Ugh I was so looking forward to trying this place. So many problems so I’ll go in chronological order… when we first arrived, there wasn’t very clear direction on where we could sit and it got confusing. All of the available seats at the bar were dirty and although there was open spaces at the sushi bar which we would have preferred, they told us we couldn’t sit there because there wasn’t a server there. That is neither here nor there other than the fact we got stuck right in front of the bartenders cash register next to either her friends or coworkers. We were there for a few minutes before a sweet lady who I presumed was the manager wiped down the bar in front of us. There was some sort of confusion because they handed the towel to the gentleman sitting next to me.. to which the bartender said “oh no that’s to wipe down the table for these nice people, well I don’t know if they’re nice yet” I was appalled. I have never been spoken to like that at a restaurant in my life. I had a hard day so I may have some bias here but that really hurt my feelings to hear as we were nice from the moment we walked in even with the confusion of seating. I got very quiet after this as I was worried if I came off the wrong way she may spit in my drink or something. She wasn’t being funny either, no one was laughing and she had a dead serious look on her face. I got really uncomfortable. All I wanted was some warm miso soup to comfort me after a tough day. The server who brought it was a young African American woman who was very professional and poised compared to our obnoxious bartender. I wish I got her name but never had the chance and I feel if she would have been our server, it would have been a much better experience. She was the only one who actually smiled at me and was friendly. Unfortunately, the miso soup was cold.. not even warm, it was cold. Ugh. That was the whole reason we came out for sushi in the first place. The ginger salad was quite good. As we waited for our sushi, we got some drinks that were lack luster, tho the bartender did warn that they didn’t have the good saki or something of the sort. Regardless, our hope for a quiet evening with privacy was filled with our very loud bartender obnoxiously and inappropriately complaining about her job in many ways. She complained about long receipts she was getting which turned me off as a customer. At one point there was a note that said some kid had his fish left out or some issue with his meal and they all started laughing about it? She was blaming other servers for issues and rolling her eyes a lot. She was also talking a lot about her personal life like her recent marriage and all sorts of stuff that I just so wish we could have moved to a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere. The sushi was okay but the kicker was when I went to eat the sea bass nigiri and ended up with bones and fish guts in my mouth (see picture below). I am not a sushi novice as I studied in Japan in college and I have never been served sea bass with bones or guts in it before. I started gagging and had to spit it on my plate which was embarrassing and just gross. She came by during this and though she could visibly see I was ill, she didn’t even ask or say anything about it. At this point it felt like there was tension built up which is so silly cause I just wanted some soup and sushi and this turned into such a bizarre night. When she came to clear our plates, she asked if everything was okay as she was walking away… it was one of those situations where she wasn’t expecting an answer and didn’t give the room for one. I wasn’t about to complain or explain the issues to the back of someone’s head. She came back and asked if we wanted ice cream and we just wanted to go so we declined but she said it came with the food so we accepted. When she brought us the ice cream, she just slapped it on table without saying a word and walked away not saying another single word to us. Not bye, not thanks for coming, not see you again soon, no kind send off what so ever. Will not be back.

I decided to order from Kani House and I had to call it in since online wasn’t available. I was told 30 minutes I showed up at about 40 minutes. I went in paid and was told 5 more minutes. I patiently waited the one hostess was walking with a bag says name for order (Linda) which is close to mine and I asked her about it to make sure it wasn’t mine. I should’ve gone with my gut to say my order was… she said she would look to see status. After 10 minutes she calls out my name (Brenda) and I had been on the lookout for my food did not see her walk it back but I could’ve looked away for 1 second so I gave benefit of doubt I asked her how long was the bag back by front she said she had just walked it upfront. I asked for my receipt after she questioned me if I paid!!! I got to my car it wasn’t sitting well with me the restaurant ticket was on there I looked and sure enough she blatantly lied to my face. This was the order that she had called about 10-15 minutes prior needless to say food was good but cold by the time I got home to eat it. My disappointment here is the fact that I was lied to in my face when she could’ve simply stated the error was the name and apologized instead she chose to lie! Now I’m just like do I go back let it go or let everybody know be careful ask questions look at ticket etc because they won’t think twice to apologize for their mistake. This could’ve easily been resolved.

Only place I used my card was here for my daughter's birthday lunch.

Later that night, I was notified by my bank of 312.99 authorizations for a city not too far from here. Obviously, I was in bed. Haven't been to that city for 5 years or more.

Waiting to speak to management.

EDIT - UPDATE

Management decided after 4 days of no response to reply with they were confident the piece of shit didn't steal my card info as they had reviewed security cameras.

Cards can be stolen without physically touching it. They did not handle this promptly nor professionally.

I told them I had proof the server lived near the city my card was used and instead of saying I was wrong (WHICH IM NOT) the manager replied with "according to our records he resides in XXXX". What professional company would give out information on an employee in question? The information is correct and they have been lied to. Unprofessional at best to tell an employee's city of residence to someone with a conflict of interest as this.

What if I now went after people with his name in that city? Very stupid move from an inexperienced "manager".

Because financial fraud isn't closely related to fake id's, lying, fake addresses, or rotating jobs every other week in a new city.

The establishment was given plenty of time and respect until I had been left in limbo for four days, then after I emailed with terms as "slimeball and bastard" I was promptly emailed back saying they don't believe me.

Well Darai, if you watched the security cameras, tell me what dessert my family ate? Tell me why those desserts are not on the receipt? Tell me you know he after giving us the check, was asked by my kids for dessert. I'm willing to wager he hasn't been an employee there very long at all.

Tell me management, did you know he gave away free food? I bet you didnt! Did you know his social media profile shows he has a new job every other week in a new city? Wonder why?

The time you all wasted was enough for several other patrons to be stolen from. You did nothing. You also alienated me from ever visiting again.

I have my proof. I know what happened. You will regret choosing to handle this in this manner.

Authorities will be in touch. Mr. Server, if you are reading this, shame on you! It was my daughter's birthday!!!!

NEVER AGAIN WILL I VISIT THIS PLACE BEWARE

I’ve never had such poor customer service that what I experienced at this establishment. I waited for over 15 minutes at the bar and neither of the 2 bartenders even acknowledged my presence. All while at least two other males had come up to and received their take out order. It wasn’t until I finally inserted myself and said I was there to pick up an order that I was recognized (though standing directly in front of the cash register, after moving there from standing at the end of the bar for the first 10minutes). They asked for my name and both of them disappeared and again I stood waiting. The younger of two returned, I asked if there was an issue with my order. He then said someone had just come in and said they were me & took my food order. When the main bartender returned, I asked if there was an issue & was told the same. While challenging this explanation as I am from out of town & highly doubt there is another “me”, he shrugged his shoulders and didn’t make eye contact. I suggested next time he communicate to the customer so that they/I know what is going on. He then responded “sorry I was busy getting your food ready.” All in all, aside from waiting the amount of time from when my order was “promised” to when I received food in hand was well over an hour. The curt response from the second bartender was not only rude but disrespectful. I’ve worked in the restaurant business all my life & have never experienced such poor customer service as this. Thankfully I could see the food being made and it only took minutes, however, based on this alone, it would be hard to return to a place like this that allows staff to disrespect customers such as I’ve experienced. I was so frustrated that I didn’t even see names for either. The food was good though, props to...
