Overall the food was delicious. Authentic family-style Taiwanese food.
We’re a party of 3. We arrived at 7pm for dinner on a busy Saturday. Waited for 50 minutes to be seated. You sign your name on the clipboard and you wait until they call your name. (unfortunate for the newbies who don’t sign-in after realizing they’ve been waiting in line for 15 minutes, and get all upset, then leave).
We ordered: 3 Cups Chicken, Kang Kung (water spinach), House Special Pork Ribs, Salt & Pepper Cuttlefish, Sautéed Luffa (green squash) with Garlic Sauce, and Taiwanese beer!
As expected - the dishes here are either stir fried or deep fried, greasy, fatty, and over-seasoned/salty. That’s the nature of Taiwanese cuisine being cooked on a wok (hence the name of this place). Don’t complain that it will break your diet. You can always go back to Sizzler’s salad bar.
Don’t bring your cashmere sweater or dry-clean only apparel. The smell of the food and smoke will stick to your clothes, skin and hair. I took a shower to wash-off all that smell. It’s all part of the experience and the food was still delicious!
We’ll come back but not during peak hours after waiting for 50 minutes in the cold. There are other good and well-deserving restaurants near the area who welcomes...
Read moreThis is a Taiwanese restaurant. If you are looking for Americanized Asian dishes such as those at Panda Express, you will not find them here. The food here was delicious! And they aren't kidding about the wok being red hot!!! It seemed to take less than 5 minutes before our dishes were served! We had the stir fry shredded pork noodle, which exceeded our expectations! I also wanted a sizzling plate and went for the black bean tofu. It was delicious. The tofu was the lightly fried type and soaked up the black bean sauce well. We also ordered the bamboo chicken soup, and it was the best prepared bamboo I've had. Because of poorly prepared bamboo at other restaurants, I always stayed away, but I'm glad we took this chance! It was not chewy or stiff like other restaurants but had a fresh, perfectly cooked and prepared texture. Also all the servers were attentive, courteous and fast. We got there around 6pm, and we got seating. However, by the time we left around 6:30pm, there was a wait! This restaurant has high ratings for a reason. I would definitely make...
Read moreEverything I've had here is consistently good! Even though the interior has limited seating I've never waited long for a table. This is because the servers are incredibly efficient and the food comes out super fast! All the food gets to my table piping hot, so it really lives up to its name - red HOT wok ;)
It's hard for me to recommend a specific dish because EVERYTHING is great. I love the sizzling plates and the fragrance of cooking meat. I always get at least one eggplant dish because they cook eggplants PERFECTLY here. Trust me, eggplant is my favorite veggie and I always order it no matter what restaurant or cuisine I try. The eggplant at Red Hot Wok is the best I've tried in a restaurant - perfect size cut, perfect cook (not too mushy), and flavorful sauces.
I brought my friends here, then my boyfriend, and I'm planning on bringing my boyfriend's family next!
Note: the parking lot is small. I recommend street parking if it is full, but make sure to read the...
