Place looks nice, service was fair. My wife and I ordered the same item a veggie omelet. It was not edible. It was not really an omelet more like an egg burrito or wrap as the vegetables were not actually cooked into the omelet. In fact the vegetables which were not really identifiable were cold. It had some kind of clear vegetable at first we thought it was sliced pickled onion. The waitress said she thought it was a power mix and maybe it was cabbage but nit even she could identify. It could have been sauercraut but it was gross. It was supposed to have portobello mushrooms but they were crispy over grilled cold normal mushrooms. It was supposed to have roasted tomatoes and peppers there where none. It had feta which tasted sour. The garnish of alfalfa was soggy and tasted moldy and the avocado was frozen rubbery and tasted of what ever it had sat next in the fridge. I tried to eat at least the egg burrito wrap thing as I was hungry but it was like a Frisbee and inedible they had nit garnished with any salt or pepper or anything. That said even with the additional of salt and pepper from on the table I could not eat. Coffee was good but only half a cup which was weird.
They did have toast but no sign if any jam/jelly at the table or available at all, the butter scraped on also tasted of what ever was in the fridge next to it.
The waitress was nice but basically said oh well maybe next time you will get something you like. No oh Iam sorry or can I comp you a coffee or anything. I did of course pay in full and Tip at their pre programmed 18%. Because it was not the waitresses fault.
I barley made it home before we were both physically ill. Thank goodness there was a gas station within 15 minutes off.
NEVER WILL I EAT THERE AGAIN. I recomend you don't either.
I would be happy to come and teach your kitchen hand clearly not a chef how-to make an omelet. I have been making omlets since I was a a child. Even drunk as an adult an omelet has to be the easiest thing to make. How can you fail at this. I can make an omelet out of anything FRESH you have in your coolroom that will have your patrons coming back for seconds. Sac your kitchen hand he /she is going to destroy your business if salmonella...
Read moreWe go to Clamity Jane's almost every Sunday. A good friend became part of the wait staff and we naturally followed her and became a fan of the place. Well, today 5/18/25, we found they have hired new summer staff to serve. I recognized these new servers from Rushmore Brewing. The first thing to note, we sat at our table for over 10 minutes before we were asked about beverages. In the past, even with limited staff, you were greeted and asked for beverage choice in less than 3 minutes. Next was the language barrier. When my wife was ordering the Breakfast Sandwich she asked not less than 3 times for a "everything" bagel. When the sandwich arrived, it was on a plain bagel. We never saw our waiter again after receiving our meal. I did observe the two gentleman servers taking many meals to the wrong diners and having to locate the ones who actually ordered that particular meal. I finally got up and went to the counter to refill my water and my wife's as our waiter never came by again. When our waiter came to take the dirty plates, my wife politely explained she got a plain bagel instead or an "everything" bagel. The waiter goes on to say, "the cook said this is the only bagel." My wife explained very politely, that if only plain bagels were on hand/available a good waiter would come explain this, and she would have ordered something else. This comment went "over the head of the Hispanic waiter" who had limited English knowledge. We asked for our bill, and after 15 minutes, as our waiter never returned, I went to the counter to see if I could pay and leave. After being handed multiple incorrect bills, I finally got ours and paid. As a local, I will not be going back during tourist season at least, if ever again. Maybe, in the fall I will consider going back again. In the meantime, I will be searching for a new "Sunday Place." We are very disappointed. It would appear that the owners value saving on labor more important than service and keeping a core/local customer base happy to return again and again. A very poor management decision to...
Read moreThe owner told us "I'm looking forward to reading your bad review" so I'm going to oblige to her wishes.
My friends and I went to this coffee shop two days in a row. The first day, my flavored coffee drink (I don't remember what it was called) had chunky powder at the bottom so I didn't order a drink when we returned the second day. I also watched a staff member lick sauce off of his hand, then continue to make sandwiches in the back of the cafe.
Upon the second day, out of six friends, only two of us didn't order anything. We didn't order because we didn't like what we had gotten the day before and our other friends were ordering things. None of us thought that would be a problem. The owner then came over and asked us if we were going to leave yet. We had been there for 30 minutes at that time and they were still drinking their coffees. We then got berated multiple times to leave because two of us hadn't bought anything and we were taking up space. Meanwhile, two groups of elderly people were there longer than we were and were not asked to leave. We were not being disruptive in any manner. She also tried to accuse us of bringing in our own teas/coffees the day before, which was completely false. On top of all this, I got personally targeted by the owner who was repeatedly asking if I understood how small business's work. I responded with "yes I understand thank you" but she was not satisfied with that and proceeded to call me "immature" and that I "needed to grow up". Very unprofessional.
In conclusion, I do understand that small business's survive off of our purchases to make a living. I also understand the power of customer service. Considering Custer is a small town and I am a local, word of mouth can be used for their benefit... or their downfall. I believe that customers must be treated with out most respect. We would have been a customer a third day but the owners belittling treatment towards us left a bad taste in our mouths. With all that said, I hope that the Calamity Jane Coffee shop can learn from their mistakes and grow...
