My gf and I have been to Abby's several times because it's in a very convenient location to my house. We have since gone to Shuggs despite the longer drive and sometimes wait. Here is why:
(1) We routinely order ahead and are quoted wait times longer than 30 minutes nearly every time (a couple times over 55 mins) but arrive to an empty store, employees standing around, and the food clearly been made a while ago despite not being informed it's ready. In fact - and I thought this was particularly odd - we got there ahead of time knowing the wait wasn't going to be 55 minutes once and got the text that the food was ready about 5 to 10 mins after picking it up. I have no doubt that Abby's CAN be busy, but I have never seen more than 4 people in it past the week day it opened. If it's a system thing, then whatever but I can't trust the wait times is the point.
(2) The food is mid at best. Let me give you some examples- the spread can be too salty, the sandwiches are never hot without melted cheese, and asking for the bagel toasted results in no toast. The last one really bugs me. I have asked for it double toasted every time after my initial toasted request came out without any indication that the bagel saw a hot object past the boil. It has never once been toasted to what I would call "double." My gf and I joke that toasted is them standing 50 ft away with a flamethrower, where as double toasted is them standing 49 feet.
(3) Customer treatment is shakey. Ordering in is fine. The workers are individually nice and there is a wonderful abuela who is sweet. But God forbid you order ahead and come in early. The gf was once told "we will text you when it's ready" after asking for the order. Mind you, she got the text and could see what eventually was given her.
It's legitimately sad because it's in a great location. We have tried it literally a dozen or so times in an effort to see if it was just shakey due to being new. But no; burn me once shame on you. Burn me twelve times shame on me for trusting...

If you’re in the area and don’t want to go far this is definitely a good option. Limited seating outside. They also have a fridge with drinks and lots of snacks for purchase (nice if not everyone you’re with is in the mood for bagels). We ordered a lox on an onion bagel with all the classic toppings (to my surprise it also came with cucumber which was odd but I should’ve paid attention to the menu better) and a Dallisite on an everything bagel (scrambled eggs, avocado, and bacon). Also ordered a drip coffee and a vanilla latte with oatmilk. Their bread on its own is very good.
Bagel bread 5/5 (Me) Lox 3/5 (Bf) Dallisite 3/5 (Bf) Drip coffee 3/5 (Me) Vanilla latte w/ oatmilk 4/5
Overall the bagels were very regular/mid/decent (like I said their bagel bread alone is very good and maybe just buying the plain bagels to go is the way to do it here). We felt like they barely put any cream cheese on the lox and (again my fault for not paying attention) I didn’t like the cucumber on it. The egg on the Dallisite tasted a bit like McDonalds scrambled egg and was a little rubbery. A bit over priced in my opinion. The wait wasn’t too long, it got busy after we finished our food. The person who checked us out was also really nice. If I was in the area I would probably go again at least for the coffee.

Read moreLet me start off by saying, this wasn't our first choice for bagels this morning, unfortunately our preferred vendor is closed mondays. We previously went to Abby's and had a poor experience (see other reviews, similar experiences). However, the owner has publicly commented on several reviews that things have been fixed such as bagel size, ensuring the right amount of cream cheese, etc.
This is simply not true.
The bagel size has not been fixed, and if so, you're talking they went from 90g to 95g (a standard "medium" sized bagel should be ~110g for reference).
We also decided to er on the side of caution and get cream cheese by the pound instead of on the bagels. When we got home, there was a giant gap in the container. With this, decided to weigh it just to see... Even with the container weight (assuming ~(0.05 lb), the couldn't get to the purchased weight of 0.5 lb.
Lastly, and this didn't weigh into negative review, would recommend having bags with handles for large bagel bundle orders.
Their saving grace is the bagels have great texture and good taste. Hopefully they work out their kinks and get their operations under control. They have a lot...
