Let me just start with saying that I was raised in Italy for about 14 years of my life..so as far as food goes let's just say I know what I am saying.. So the appetizer was good.. I would say authentic.. A bed of prosciutto with bread drizzled in olive oil and some mozzarella di buffala placed on top.. Okay got it good!
Then we moved on to the main course I got the gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce which was good and I am scared to tell any Italians that are reading this.. My boyfriend got Risotto with calamari and sausage like a jambalaya wanna be but I wish!!!!! Okay I told my boyfriend don't eat that... For his sake really and for mine bc watching someone eat risotto with calamari and shrimp and sausage in the same bowl as an Italian is about as disgusting as watching an American eat jelly on a hot dog..
Okay moving on desert I was full so I was like I am good.. My boyfriend ordered the creme brûlée it showed up... Cold as the day is long!!! I mean was this made last week?!? Who ever sold cold creme brûlée? Not just the creme part the all thing even the sugary crust... I asked if we could get a warm one an the owner turned around and said this is how we serve it and all his clients love it... Well this one doesn't... He was eating at a table next to us.. Listen I am Italian so I am okay with people eating I encourage it!!!! but don't insult me... I explained myself in Italian he said no one in 25 years as ever had a problem..
We in Italy we call this a TOURIST TRAP expect its for dumb americans here in the states! We were given a free desert and a free bread pudding... Really a bread pudding at an authentic Italian restaurant?!? Come on.... Shame shame on you!!!!! Non si fa così! And by the way your coffee taste bitter bc its burnet!!!! Geez!!!! Food 101!!! Mi dispiace ma questa è' la verità!!!! The two stars are for the prosciutto And the mozzarella....
Do this go get a packet of pasta... Get some cherry tomatoes put olive oil cherry tomatoes in a pan and let them pop.. Till they make a sauce then boil the pasta... spaghetti preferably and cook for about 7 min pour yourself a glass of red wine toss the spaghetti on the fresh tomato sauce top with basil and a little bit of Parmesan cheese and enjoy... All'italiana!!!!! E goditi la vita perché sennò che...
Read moreItalian food this side of the Atlantic Ocean rarely tastes this good. This isn't just the best Italian restaurant in the DFW area; Adelmo's is a solid contender to join the ranks of the best Italian restaurants in the country.
The food is certainly one part of the experience, and absolutely everything on this menu is delicious. There's a tomato basil soup they serve that exists as proof that money can buy happiness, and that's just for starters (literally). Seafood dishes, deliriously tasty veal chops and, of course, pastas that will exceed the expectations of your taste buds are par for the course. If you're a person who insists on cleaning their plate when you go out and spend money on a nice dinner, come hungry because portions are generous.
Really, that generosity is kind of an extension of the service from everyone who works here. The family who owns the restaurant oversees everything from hosting duties to trying out new desserts, preparing the meals to partaking in visiting each and every table in the dining room to chat with guests. You will seriously find it difficult to find a more hospitable group of restaurant professionals, and that also applies to the food runners, the bartenders and the rest of the staff.
On our most recent visit, Jeffrey (and I hope I spelled his name correctly) took care of us through exceptional service. With equal parts personal anecdotes and probable recommendations, he made our already impressive meal even warmer.
And, oh, speaking of warmth, is it safe to assume this is one of the most impressive selections of wine and other spirits you can find around town? I think so, and not just because you can find yourself drinking an expertly prepared cocktail before discovering what armagnac is if you're like me and in the dark on such matters.
Really, from start to finish, and through every visit I've had here over the years, Adelmo's is a class act worthy of retaining all of their "regulars" and attracting new customers. If it is not yet on your rotation of restaurants to visit, you owe it to yourself to see what you've been...
Read moreI went to Adelmos last Friday night with a couple of my co -workers. We had been eying the restaurant for a long time and were looking forward to having a nice dinner and celebrate a promotion. Unfortunately we were pretty dissatisfied with the overall service. It seemed the server was taking care of the entire room, he seemed extremely overwhelmed with the amount of tables he was taking care of. Having worked in fine dining restaurant industry(Ocean Prime, Mortons) I completely understand, however when the server dropped the check he declined to ask how the payment would be split. We would have preferred them to have been split amongst us. We asked if it was possible to split the payment the server visibly was angered by this request and stormed off. He came back about 20 minutes later after having been waved down with the correct checks and it took about another 15 minutes for him to come back with the cards. I enjoyed my food I just wish it would have been under better circumstances.
Since my original post the owner has decided to comment on this review and instead of apologizing for the terrible service is defending the rude customer service we had received. It would have been the courteous thing to if the server gave us enough time in the first place to even ask this question. His comment is extremely pretentious, and is a clear reflection of the overall ethics of this establishment. Save your money and time and go eat somewhere with better service and food like Ocean Prime or Sister. A simple apology would have been sufficient enough after the...
