Me and my girl friends tried going there Friday night (10-7-22) and the door guy wouldn’t let us in..this was around 1:30 and the door man’s excuse for not letting us in was that it was “too late” but as soon as we walked away he let a couple of men inside. My girl friends and I were obviously very disappointed and upset. We couldn’t understand why he would of denied our entrance to go inside but right after let a couple of men in.. CONSIDERING that my two girlfriends who were with me are from Bishop Arts and have been going there for many years last night was the very first time they were denied access inside. The door man was white and kinda short, I have never seen him before..maybe because I don’t go as often as my friends do but this really bothered me. Us ladies seeing that he let a couple of men inside after saying “no” to us makes me question if we would return...might he do the same thing AGAIN..? When we walked back and asked him why we weren’t able to go inside and THEY WERE he kinda laughed and mocked us, and said that it was because he knew them…Of course we left very upset. Once again. One of the reasons why men go to clubs/bars is because they expect to see pretty girls in there but this was backwards.. To let men in and NOT ladies? How are men suppose to “come back” if there’s no ladies in there? Nobody likes a sausage party. I myself have been to Atlas couple of times and enjoyed it but tonight was not it. I don’t know when I’ll see Atlas again after this experience. Not to add that when we were walking away the second time, the door man decided to laugh at us AGAIN but this time with another man who was next to him. I guess it was funny to the door man being able to say no to us coming inside. A few men from inside Atlas saw us a walking away with our upset faces and they decided to step outside of Atlas to come after us and offer us drinks from inside and suggested we sat at the patio outside of Atlas but one of my friends said no, that, that was humiliating and that she didn’t want him spending money on a place that didn’t allow us women inside. I hope this creates guidance to making Atlas a better place so my friends who had been going there for years and I can come back and have a good time in there like everyone else once...
Read moreEasy to tell from the moment you step in the door that you've just walked into your new favorite local bar. The atmosphere in this bar is incredible, a wide variety of individuals which are representative of the diversity that lives within the Bishop Arts District. Everyone is very welcoming and the drinks are second to none - truthfully one of the most exciting things that you'll realize about the Bishop Arts District is that the bartenders are TOP tier. Thus, be sure to tip them well. My roommate and I visited on the Sunday night before President's Day (President George Washington's Birthday for those of you who didn't already know... little fun fact for ya), and the ambiance/vibe/atmosphere/etc. was exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday night. A packed crowd, music turned up a bit but not too much to where you can't hold a conversation, and great local community gathering spot.
Pros: Speakeasy type setup, great drinks, affordable (but I did live in LA for three years so take that as you will), great atmosphere, tasty drinks, and unique.
Cons: Although it claims to be a speakeasy there really is no hidden aspect or word-of-mouth necessity to find where the "secret" bar is (I wish this was more of a well-kept secret but such is life), the venue itself is fairly small but in comparison to the other locations in this district it's about the average of what you'll find, needed at least one more bartender working as there was a decent crowd that night and it took a bit to get drinks.
Summed up: If you haven't gone here, go here. Grab a crew and make the visit, you...
Read moreAtlas is a pretty nice cocktail bar located in the heart of Bishop Arts, known for its charming ambiance and expertly crafted drinks. I would confidently say it's one of the nicest spots in the area if you're in the mood for some quality cocktails.
During my recent visit with a group of friends, I had the pleasure of trying both the Paloma and Guava drinks, and I must say, they were impeccably prepared and perfectly balanced. My friend decided to order the "Last Word" cocktail, which turned out to be another delightful choice.
Our waitress, whose name escapes me now, was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the evening. Despite the bustling atmosphere, she made sure that everyone's drinks arrived promptly and that each person's preferences were catered to. Her willingness to accommodate separate checks for each of us was a thoughtful gesture that didn't go unnoticed.
As for the ambiance, it was just what you'd hope for in a cozy cocktail bar—warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a laid-back vibe that encouraged relaxed conversation and enjoyment of our surroundings.
Overall, our experience at Atlas was nothing short of exceptional. My friends and I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and grateful for the memorable evening we'd shared. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Atlas to anyone looking for a top-notch cocktail experience...
