I visited Bella & Brawn on Friday, April 4th, hoping to treat myself to a birthday gift. The shop itself is undeniably cute, with a lot of unique and fun inventory that caught my eye. I was particularly interested in a ring on the jewelry table and was discussing it with my friend, simply asking for her opinion on which way it looked better.
Unfortunately, my positive impression of the store quickly soured. I was shocked and frankly, quite offended, when I noticed an employee slightly behind my friend mouthing "are you watching them" while pointing directly at us and speaking to other employees behind me.
This blatant act of what felt like profiling completely ruined my shopping experience. I was immediately turned off by the implication and the feeling of being unfairly watched and judged. As a result, I chose not to make a purchase at Bella & Brawn.
Instead, I took my birthday treat shopping next door to Urban Owl, which is an absolutely adorable shop, and happily made a purchase there.

They asked me what I was looking for and I mentioned I needed clip on earnings. Though they didnāt have any options for me in the store, they quickly recommended another bishop arts business with vintage jewelry. I was super happy to see how they were supporting other local businesses in the area. After coming back from the other shop, I knew I still wanted to support their business, so I came back to look for a necklace. One of the employees was very patient with me and showed me all of their chain options. I explained I was looking for a longer chain, and she quickly found me exactly what I was looking for! I left with a necklace that I now wear every day!!! I am so happy...

She mentioned she saw a clothing store and so we walked there and was so impressed with the collection! The owner makes a lot of the jewelry that's in store by hand and the clothes are reasonably priced for a local boutique. The space is warm and inviting, and I was happy to say I got a dress and some accessories in less than 20 minutes! Highly recommend if you're looking for trendy, reasonably priced clothes while also supporting a local business. I'll definitely...
