We have been coming to this restaurant for years. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back for the foreseeable future after our latest visit. Half of our party felt uncomfortable enough to leave before ordering due to concern for their health since they are at high risk.
Awake is not following the minimum standards health protocols set for restaurants set by Gov. Greg Abbott.
To start, there is no point in having employees wear face masks/covering if they remain around their necks the entire time. Also, your menu is already online so maybe redirect customers to that menu instead of handing out stained/dirty menus. Sanitize the tables. Seating a customer that had the last customers dirty plates and quickly taking those away and not spraying down the table doesn’t provide a great image even if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic.
We understand some of these are harder to implement than others but even simple protocols are still not being followed at this location like they are at other restaurants. I will list some of the recommended protocols below.
Dining: Do not leave condiments, silverware, flatware, glassware, or other traditional table top items on an unoccupied table
Provide condiments only upon request, and in single use (non-reusable) portions.
Use disposable menus (new for each patron)
Contactless payment is encouraged. Where not available, contact should be minimized. Both parties should wash or sanitize hands after the payment process.
Train all employees and contractors on appropriate cleaning and disinfection, hand hygiene, and respiratory etiquette.
Have employees and contractors wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the restaurant, and between interactions with customers.
Have employees and contractors maintain at least 6 feet of separation from other individuals. If such distancing is not feasible, measures such as face covering, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, cleanliness, and sanitation should be rigorously practiced.
Consistent with the actions taken by many restaurants across the state, consider having all employees and contractors wear cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth). If available, employees and contractors should consider wearing non-medical...
Read moreAwake was a place where we have done multiple friend dates and catch ups. We loved the food and always had a very pleasing experience until today. We had brunch today at 10:30am. Our server, I cannot recall his name started off great. He was nice and attentive but unfortunately somewhere along the way he became sarcastic and rude and practically made signals for us to leave. First he got upset that we asked for the check to be split. Second he got bothered when I ordered food for my friend who was on her way, he asked if it would be on my tab. One of my friends orders was also wrong, he also when we were ordering got way too close and was rushing us to decided. He was already wanting to close our tabs though I was not even done eating and he took my plate without asking. When he brought the check though we did not ask for it yet as we were eating and talking he made a comment that “they told him to tell us that we needed to pay at the front” which we know as we go often. He also stated “y’all will need to do some exercise and walk up to the front “ we found that uncalled for and we already knew where to pay. He brought my friends food which was a pancake packed up though I did not ask for it to be to go. We were confused and she arrived she was also confused. He brought the coffee we asked for her and he was bothered when she asked for creamer and she handed it to me instead? I felt uncomfortable ans decided to pay and step out with one friend. My 2 friends stayed behind so she could ask for coffee to go. They came out laughing nervously as they were basically kicked out with his attitude and non verbals. He brought two cups of coffee full to the table and slammed them on the table. The people and couples around us stared as he did this and acted very rude as he walked away after he slammed the coffee on the table. As you can see we left and my friend had to take her food elsewhere to eat since he made us uncomfortable and rushed and not sure why he acted this way. We loved this place and have always come here because of the service and great food unfortunately we will not be...
Read moreI was excited to try this place. I work at a hospital nearby & since they advertise they deliver I thought I would support them. Have called multiple times over the past 2 weeks & every single time am told they dont deliver. But my neighborhood has been trying to support them & my neighbors have had delivery. So very not impressed & due to the rude woman I spoke with yesterday, will not support this business or go here. If I couldve given no stars I would have based on lack of customer service when calling.
In response to the owner...no, this was for the Addison Awake location.. I have repeatedly spoken to a woman who states she is the only one working. I alao have spoken to a man who identified himself as the manager. He advised me that only him & 1 staff member are typically there (during the week & he usually only offers delivery on the weekends. I told him my neighbors were raving about you guys & that the have no problem getting delivery. I called daily for 2 weeks & was advised by the woman who answered that if I wanted food, that I could pick it up. Im working & homeschooling remotely due to covid19 so I was wanting to trt after all the reviews & support you guys. I am about a mile away. Sounds like maybe you need to talk to your staff as I was told no delivery 10 times. I was wanting to order directly rather than use grubhub etc to support your staff, I guess they dont like money? Talk to your mngr, the last day I called I was obviously upset. But I was repeatedly told no delivery, also by your manager & this was NOT from another business unless you change your business phone daily. I called & the phone number on the website. Not an error on my side Im...
