I visited Starpower to buy a new washing machine. Our current washing machine has been nothing but problematic, so after some research, my intention was to purchase a new SpeedQueen washer.
After speaking to one of your associates, sorry I can't remember her name, she informed me that the SpeedQueens had a 5-7 week backorder! Ouch, we could not wait that long! So, we started discussing alternatives (My fallback was a new Maytag). Thinking that my research prepared me, I asked her many questions about warranties, quality of components and her opinion on everything. I have to say, she was attentive, polite and quite knowledgeable to answer every concern & question I had!
After hearing about my current washer, she went above and beyond and got me an installation the VERY NEXT DAY! To say that I was impressed (considering the big box stores apathy with things like this) is an understatement! I was sold! She talked more about extended warranties, kept me at-ease on the quality of Maytag, reviewed the delivery/installation and processed my payment. She reassured me that they will deliver the next day...but, I'm a skeptical person, so I went home and waited the next day for that call to tell me that there was "a mistake" and the delivery would actually be days or weeks later.
I'm happy to report that didn't happen. The delivery guy called me in the morning to let me know the delivery would be between 10:30 - 11:30am. Still, I was skeptical...and waited for the next call that it would be 9pm at night or would I like it at a later date.
Again, that didn't happen! The delivery crew arrived in that window, removed my old washer (after hearing my long, lame story about it...which they laughed and engaged with me on) and installed the new one.
Let me wrap this up: My overall experience was AWESOME! Your team "walked the walk" and I am very pleased. From the sales person (dangit...can't remember her name!) to the delivery team, everything happened exactly as it was told to me.
For the unnamed sales person (I have her card at my house...I'm sure you can ID her but let me know if you'd like me to look!), please pass these kudos to her. She should take a bow, because she has earned it!
For the delivery team, the same kudos should be conveyed!
And to the management of Starpower, you just earned a new, long term...
Read moreThis place was very cool. I had never been to a store that specialized in audio technology. I am tired of dealing with young kids who work at best buy or frys that act like they know everything. But if you start getting into really detailed questions about audio signals and such, they will regurgitate what sounds like a poorly written manufacturers manual.
Not at this place, no sir. It was evident within ten seconds of talking to Mr. John that he knew his buisness. He started drawing on a note pad as I told him about the dimensions of my room.
See if the theatere guys at Best Buy or Frys start drawing on a notepad. They wont. Because most everything they learned comes from corporate videos designed to teach these kids the very basics of the technology they sell.
I have worked in the retail and advertising buisness for about 15 years now, and I really appreciate good customer service. Especially when it comes at the hands of people who know what they are talking about, because they take the time to learn about it as I have done.
The only con I could leave about this place is that you need to a lot of available cash in order to deal with them. But the two salesmen treated me as they were both gentlemen and scholors. Despite the fact I came in out of the rain wearing walmart shorts and flip flops.
Mad props to these gentlemen for not taking one look at me and giving me the old 'holier- then-thou' -looking down their nose sort of treatment you would get walking into a store on Melrose Avenue dressed like a shlub (Which I have also done) :)
You usually get what you pay for in the electronics industry, but if you have the money to shop here I would say by all means do so. Even if they charge a premium for their customer service, which they don't seem to do, you might learn a lot by just stopping by and asking questions.
I was very sad to have to leave there without buying anything, because this is the type of store experience that just makes me want to throw my money at these guys hahaha. Just the environment and the friendly atmosphere had me wishing I worked there. Despite the fact I am just a writer - as you no doubt have gleaned by reading through this hot mess of a review - and audio technology is just a hobby.
But, be sure I will be back to your guy's lovely store when I have some more...
Read moreChanging my below rating from 3 to 5 stars due to the excellent response and customer service by both Beth Wahl and Mark who steered me to the new warranty company and helped me save on my new TV purchase which is now working great. I would advocate for Starpower to anyone as a strong candidate to consider in your home entertainment purchases among the other products they offer.
I'm giving a 3 Star Rating as I have enjoyed the products and initial service install that StarPower provided, but with piss-poor warrant support, why would I not choose a competitor come time to upgrade my TV and home theater system...? Details of warranty support service below.
I called the Starguard/Warrantech number and the individual answering the phone was pleasant and helpful enough; however, of the 2 service providers that are apparently subcontracted out.... 1 was out of business and the other (NISI USA, Inc. located in Carrollton) as a 1.0 rating out of 5 stars. In fact, after reading the reviews, I cancelled my appointment to address a potential panel issue with my 75" Samsung TV as I did not want to make matters worse based on the experiences of folks that used this company previously.
What's funny is when I called the NISI company to cancel my appointment---they didn't even have the claim information or any of my information related to said claim. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised---but it made cancelling the appointment that was never made...
