So we just left the restaurant and I'm going to keep it short. To sum it up, we are driving home, got hungry, thought about Gloria's what we decided to try here instead. First of all, it's too hot inside I don't think the air conditioning was working. My husband ordered a pizza and I ordered fettuccine with chicken, garlic, and spinach, and of course, Alfredo sauce. it also came with a side of a small Italian salad which is basically lettuce.
My husband's pizza was nice and crispy. However, they brought this big plate with a very liquid runny white sauce, noodles and chunks of chicken. The first impression of the dish was disgusting. But anyways, I gave it a try. Just sidenote, my daughter loves loves, loves pasta. There has never been a pasta dish that she hated. Until today!!
Anyways, I put the first bite in my mouth, I was punched in the face with the smack of garlic and a very, very bitter Alfredo sauce. There was enough garlic in that plate that I could kill an entire army of vampires at "hello"!
It had so much garlic that it feels like I have been healed from every disease in the book that I did not know I have.
And as far as my daughter goes, she is sped it out!! And she is not a type of a toddler who does that. It is not worth $25 even one little bit.
Oh wait, it gets worse.
The front desk manager was very kind and sweet. And he offered to change it for me without extra charge. He asked me what I'd like to try and I told him let's do Penne with red sauce and chicken, NOOOOO GARLIC PLEASEEE
He smiled and put deodorant. Mind you this is a short version.
After the new order got to the table, I took two bites and it was horrific. The red sauce tasted as it just came out of the can, poured into the frying pan, some sage or other Italian herbs were added to it with the addition of the chicken and it was poured over the Penne.
Or if that is not the case, then the tomatoes that they made that sauce from "scratch " with, might have been molded.
It was Not worth $25 at...
Read more——- Critics Review ——- The last 3 times here over 4 years has been horrible. Failed again tonight. I was with a friend from high school who was in town and he wanted to go to the Mockingbird location because that was the only one in the 70s-80s. My head sank because the Lovers Lane location is perfect!!!
I told the waitress specifically, “an all the way pizza, minus mushrooms, triple garlic and extra crispy - so the toppings are toasted. I do not want the toppings in the center like you normally do - I want all toppings to the edge of the crust.”
Ugh, again - a total failure. Look at the photo! Toppings only in the center. The outer 2 inches is only cheese and garlic. You can barely see any salami or Italian sausage anc onions are everywhere. Almost under cooked - no where close to crispy! (A machine could do better!!)
Of course being with my friend I could not complain. So I went to my normal location (Lovers Lane), showed the manager (Derick) the pizza Mockingbird gave me. He knows me and what I like (as does 1/2 of the staff!) He was equally appalled.
I ask him to take a photo and send it to the Mockingbird manager and share my story. And throw it in the trash! I choked down 2 baby slices only to be tell my friend I has a late lunch as was full. (Mockingbird - I’LL NEVER GO BACK - EVEN IF YOU OFFER FREE FOOD FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!)
Of course Derick offered to make me a replacement pizza - and I refused twice. But when he added a free bourbon and coke… I broke down and said ok - but only a small. (See 2nd photo - a perfect pie!!)
Lesson learned. From now on, every friend who pops in town and wants to go to Mockingbird - I will tell them of my last 4 experiences and how Lovers Lane is the VIP place to go! Screw the atmosphere and nostalgia of Mockingbird!!!
Avoid Mockingbird at all costs!!! Order Dominos instead (or better - eat in or do a pick up at...
Read moreNormally I do not write reviews on restaurants or places I go to but this warranted a comment or two. I went to eat here over the weekend, enjoyed my pizza though it was definitely nothing to rave about and the meatballs were bland. The reason for my low rating is my experience while dining in. Not sure if the manager was having a stressful night or if he's always squirly. I witnessed him reprimanding an employee for putting too much bread in a basket... Seemed like a trivial thing to comment on. It wasn't only that, it seemed as though every worker was uneasy around him like they were scared to do their job. I sat there for about an hour and watched as he walked up to different workers and told them what they were doing wrong. As I was on my way out I over heard him say he was a Campisi! I guess when you are given a business it doesn't matter if you treat your employees with respect, either way I will not be giving this place another shot for the sheer fact that the owner is disrespectful towards his workers and the price is not worth the mediocre food...
