I didnāt get any food, just a coffee.
I was driving by, saw the coffee shop, and thought Iād stop in. It looks unassuming from the outside. The atmosphere inside is really cool. Definitely different from your standard coffee shop. Lots of records hanging on the walls and they have another room dedicated to vinylās too.
First time in, youāre likely to slow walk in to take in your surroundings. Thatās what I did. It is smaller than what I was expecting, but being in the city in a plaza, Iād say itās a decent size.
Before I got to the counter, I noticed they have a Cereal Bar! (Which I think is pretty cool). For their coffee selection, they have a lot of the standard option and some original choicesā¦at least, unique enough that you donāt get offered them at other spots.
I got the Cobo-Chico w/Hazelnut flavoring and Coffee Ice. Thatās a Topo-Chico (yes!) mixed with Cold Brew (more yes!) with Cold Brew ice cubes. So, when they melt, your coffee doesnāt get grossly watered down. It gets gloriously saturated with even more cold brew. Iām purposely letting the ice cubes melt to check itā¦as of writing this, Iām halfway done with the drink and the cubes are noticeably smallerā¦and the drink is still good.
This is my first time having bubbly coffee. So, it is a bit weird and will take some getting used to, but itās a good weird. Definitely a surprise upon first taste.
I spoke with Cass (shoutout Cass!!) who was quite helpful with my questions about the unique choices on the menu.
There are only two bad things about The Spin.
This is the only location in the DFW Area. There isnāt a location near Rockwall.
If I had to choose between The Spin and the Seattle-based competitor which I will not name, but we all know who Iām talking aboutā¦Iād go to The Spin. You guys have a great thing goin and Iād love to see another locale percolate up in the Rockwall/Greenville Area.
Stay caffeinated my fellow...

Music has always been more than just sound to me. Itās memory. Itās healing. Itās that one perfect summer, the ride through familiar streets, the freedom of being young and invincible. Some songs donāt just playāthey transport you. And for me, there was one mix CD, full of gritty punk tracks, that did exactly that. It was made by a friend back in the day, and riding my bike around Dallas with that soundtrack blasting through my headphones? That was everything.
Of course, CDs get scratched. Songs get lost. Life moves onāand so did that music. I thought Iād never hear it again.
Until I found a warped copy of the record on Discogs. It was like holding a ghost. So close⦠but still out of reach.
Enter: The Spin.
Walking into The Spin changed everything. I shared my story with the owner, just hoping for some empathy. What I got instead was a miracle. Not only did he know exactly what I was talking aboutāhe restores records. He digitizes music. He saves memories.
My heart could barely handle it.
This place isnāt just a record store. Itās a haven. Itās run by real people who get it. They donāt just sell vinylāthey honor it. They understand how music ties us to the best parts of ourselves. The staff? Genuine. Passionate. Kind. The atmosphere? Comforting and cool, like your favorite song played on a rainy day.
I didnāt expect a record store to change my life, but The Spin did. I came in with a warped record and a heart full of hope. I left with restored musicāand a renewed love for my city.
Honestly? As long as The Spin is here, Iām staying in Dallas.
Go visit. Go talk to them. Bring your stories, your scratched memories, your long-lost albums. Theyāll...

WOW...The owner likes to argue and mess with scam callers on their phones. This is like my all time favorite place to be and I get to go once or twice a week. I am quiet and kind and have even engaged in great conversations. Chris gets into a heated conversation with the scam caller and then basically took it all out on me. I was just checking out. He gave me my total and I was switching my credit card in my virtual wallet. I forgot to hit tip and faltered. He starts in on me "hit skip, it's okay to tip every other day". I explained that I always tip as I work in a restaurant, but he was clearly aggravated with the call and made me feel like he was calling me out for not tipping, I tip the highest percentage every single time, this time he flustered me and I don't even know what I pressed. Then he said "I don't know what people have going on in their life". Like dude I wasn't on the phone with you man. Your business will not be affected by me not coming back, but man seriously. These are things you may even say to people in kind, but today you kind of attacked me. Get a phone answering service to give directions, times, and press one for service or something so they stop aggravating you but, I didn't deserve to...
