If I was driving around looking for a place to eat I dont think I would have even turned my head to notice this place. Sure you pull up you see the landscaping outside and think oh it needs some maintenance. But then you go through the white metal gate and you see the cutest little patio on a step down. It looks like the perfect place to have a cocktail at night outside and no one knows you are down there. I regret not taking pictures my phone died. There are pictures on here but they are old pictures. The patio has got the cutest makeover. The restaurant is also just so cute. Furniture could use a bit of makeover but I'm not there to eat the furniture. We visited last week on a Sunday night and we were a large group. The waiter was so nice and patient. Bar tender brought out or drinks and he was a personality all on his own. We just loved the energy there. We had a tableside guac and it was soooooo good!! They accompanied it with homemade chips. I really wasn't expecting much when it comes to food because the amount of places that dissapoint me. I played it safe and ordered the fish tacos. I was expecting same ol battered fish with the "aioli" blah blah blah,,,....... uh..no. The fish was seared and it was seasoned with a spicy blend and then it had fresh housemade slaw with corn ~ no aioli. why? because this fish taco has nothing to be ashamed of. Full of flavor and varying textures perfectly balanced on a fresh made tortilla....are you kidding me? I was impressed. Sadly, it comes with just two fish tacos, and I was not full. Thats okay because I also sampled the fried plantains so next time I go, I will be adding that to my order as well. The fried plantains were perfection. My order also came with a side of black beans. Unfortunately, the beans were a little undercooked and not seasoned. Not a big deal. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My husband raved about his tacos and you could tell everything was made in house fresh.
Here is just a note for when you visit: There is limited parking. There is a nook behind the bar with a mini bar that is so cute and just like the perfect little space away from the main space. Dark and moody. This place is understaffed. When we went, we were a group of about 18 people, and you could tell it was overwhelming for the staff even though there weren't many other people besides us. It did take forever to get our food so be patient it is definitely worth it. They are all doing their best.
I hope this place definitely picks up more clientele, I want to see it succeed as we don't have many places that value the quality of their food and the authenticity of recipes. This is real food.
The sign says they offer brunch Saturday and Sunday 11-4 so hopefully I will be back real soon for...
Read moreMy family of 4 went here at 7 on a Saturday night. We were excited because 2 of us share a birthday and we saw on Instagram that there would be a DJ when we would be there. There was no problem seating us as they had a reserved sign on the table. A hostess seated us, gave us menus and explained that we order at the counter. They did have birriah tacos but they were not on the menu. The sodas are not fountain drinks and are bottles instead. There is also a dessert case at the register as well. We placed our order and was given a table number sign. Once we had our food, we had several people stopping by to check on us, clear the table etc. They also gave all 4 of us a complimentary slice of cake with candle which was a nice touch. The DJ also allowed people to request songs which was nice as well as the lights being turned down to create more of a nighttime atmosphere. The bar was separate and towards the back. I went to the bar to order a drink while we were waiting on our food and the bar tender said he would be right with me. He helped a man and another couple who all walked up after me. It was pretty rude but I didn't say anything. The lady from the other couple ordered the same drink as me so the bartender made our drinks at the same time. The drink we ordered had sprite in it and he left about barely any room in her drink for sprite but left a large amount for mine. I was already irritated by being looked over twice but what do you do? I got a drink with little alcohol $15. I really wanted to love this place and have good time but the whole bar situation turned me off from going back. The food is great and the hostess and servers were nice. It just didn't feel quite as welcoming as it...
Read moreIt was hard to find the place at first. While driving down Jefferson we saw the sign but couldn't see the actual place. I was hangry so I decided to just turn back and go to a place I already knew. As we turned on a side street to head back west on Jefferson we saw the restaurant so we parked and went in. As soon as we walked in I could tell it was going to be good. There was a DJ, the bar in the back looked lively, and we got seated right away. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The hostess gave us our menu and told us we had to order at the counter. I had the birria tacos and a Mexican Coke and my boyfriend had a carne asada burrito and Mexican coke as well. We also ordered Molletes, which neither of us had ever heard off. The birria tacos were delicious, it was my first time trying them. My boyfriend's burrito was really good as well and it was packed with meat. The Mollete was also amazing. It is bolillo bread cut in half with beans and tons of cheese topped with diced tomatoes. Basically an open face sandwich. I highly recommend it. The pricing was great too. Less than $50 including tip. The decor was festive. It had glittery curtains, crystal chandeliers, and white Christmas lights on the ceiling in the bar area. Will definitely go back soon on a weekend and try some of their...
