Me and my brother were excited to eat some good Denny's food at around 4 in the morning, and as we walk in from the cold we are greeted by a very relaxed, almost limp server, he mumbles out to us and I can see in the corner of my eye in the waiting room there is a homeless man in a black hood sleeping in there on one of the booths. It was already a bad sign, and as we are seated the server begins to speak to us and we begin to realize that he is either mentally impaired or more likely incredibly high on something, his speech is slurred and slowed, he looked exhausted, and this was already a very bad sign to me. So then he took our order with no pen or paper, and as we give it to him he obliges, but then has to come back in 5 minutes to ask again what my brother ordered, its at this point I begin to realize the severity of his inebriation.
As I sit across from my brother after ordering we began to realize the prices have gone up substantially, for an american slam (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and 2 pancakes) it was 16 dollars, a price for what you'd usually pay 10 dollars for, and the burger I ordered was 15, a bit more reasonable for the price but still the prices create and expectation of quality, and so far I wasn't receiving quality service. I anxiously await my burger, I am under the belief that the server was the only person on shift at the time, and I'm trying to be understanding as I imagine that it is rough work to run shop by yourself.
15 minutes after order, my brother gets his breakfast, it looks okay, though the eggs look plasticy. And he seems to be enjoying his meal okay, but I still await my burger, sitting there on my phone confused as to whats going on back there, eventually my server returns with the plate, timidly pushing the plate over to me like he didn't have any strength in his body, And the burger looked okay from the ouside but as I lifted the bun to put ketchup on it I realized what I got wasn't a hamburger but a series of mutilated patty fragments, some of which didnt have the cheese on top, and it wasnt that much meat despite me ordering a DOUBLE cheeseburger, might I add some of that meat didn't look fully cooked, and looked like the meat had come from somewhere else entirely, I had recieved some kind of modified frankenstien creation of a burger with insufficent amounts of meat. I was appauled by what I recieved but I was still hungry so I managed to eat the parts that looked edible, already overcome with defeat and fear that if I brought this problem up with my server, he wouldnt comprehend me, as he seemed confused about everything, I heard him mumbling to himself about how cold it was in a lost way.
After quickly scarfing down the stale french fries me and my brother decide its time to leave, I am shocked by the glaring fact my server thought what I had recieved was acceptable for a paying customer who is spending 15 DOLLARS on A BURGER AND FRIES to consume. I sit here with anxiety that I might be sick as some of the meat looked foul. And as we approach the register to pay, i see the homeless man is still sleeping in the waiting room, and I feel pity for the other customers here being served complete garbage by somebody whos clearly on drugs. The registers empty of course since it seems that he is the only guy there, and me and my brother wait a good 5 minutes for my server to show up, and we spend another 5-7 minutes waiting as my server bumbles and grumbles to himself while trying to get the register working, so as though my dining experience wasn't horrible enough, I just kind of get to uncomfortably stand in front of an inebriated man try to ring me up. And at that point I really just want to leave, but then my check was finally pulled up, I payed $36 dollars, and left with my brother, feeling devastated, defeated, drained and depressed. I feel totally scammed, I feel freaked out and I cannot believe Denny's would hire someone like that to run their resturaunt. I'm not returning. I'd like a full refund. I feel like...
Read moreAte here when going to an event in Dallas. Experience might be different if we came at a different time. But my Experience was different from my friends. I have a gluten allergy. They do have gluten free options. I didn't have a reaction when eating here so that's good. It's not a separate menu but they have them labeled. I did not confirm the sanitary practices for possible cross contamination. I got a build your own grand slam. It was eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns and I paid extra for ham. Sadly, no gluten free pancake option. We got there a little after 1120ish pm. So maybe it's not the standard. They could have been tired. My hashbrowns were under cooked. They didn't have the satisfying crunch or the carmilization in use to. Infact it was actually cold when it came out. Hardly warm. Bacon was good! Nice brown color with satisfying crunch. My eggs I ordered over easy. They came out over hard. Hardly even runny. The sausage was okay. The ham was tough to cut but it was good! Had a few grill like marks and flavor with every bite. It was alright 3 stars. My friends got other thing. French toast was good from what I was told. Syrup bottle was like a bartender cap where you have to turn it upside down to get it. Takes a bit. Their scrambled eggs came out nice and even had cheese! My other friend had a brisket sandwich. Think it was the melt down they call it. She said it was wonderful! Even the toast it came out with had a nice browning. Not burnt. And she just kept saying how good it was!
So if you eat here, just order scrambled eggs and bacon and ham(with an up charge) the pancakes should be good if French toast was good. And definitely try the melt. It's worth it! I give it 3 stars for my first Dennys experience. Service was fine. Atmosphere was dead, but the...
Read moreCame in with my (two) children today, At noon. Our servers name was Joseph The service was half assed, but my expectations were low. Didn’t give us the side Sauces , We only had two rolls of silverware for three people , Only got two straws for a table of three. Not a big deal, we managed.
But something that really seemed unnecessary was Joseph gave my children 7 of the same Beige crayon. I thought maybe there’s a crayon shortage? It happens. Still, I snapped a pic because I thought it was odd.
Then When I paid, I briefly noticed the box of colored crayons. It didn’t occur to me until I got to my car that this person deliberately gave my children seven of the same beige crayons when there was a box full of colored crayons.
So, I went back inside to take a picture of the colored crayons so I could post about it online. Joseph was there. He asked me if there was a problem. I said, did you give my children 7 of the same colored crayon? And he said that was an accident. I said I think it’s just a weird thing that you did. And I grabbed my receipt that was still on the counter so that I would have his name and I walked out. What a weird, rude thing to do.
The other server on the floor came outside, stopped my car to ask me if everything was OK. I explained Joseph’s odd behavior And she agreed that that was strange.
I guess Joseph doesn’t like people with kids or doesn’t like children or whatever his problem is Idk
But this message is for Joseph
Honey, you work at Denny’s. Nobody expects you to be a five star server, but I think the bare minimum is not being a dick to children. That’s why I still gave you a 20% tip even though you...
