My family and I came here because the FOOD it was recommended to us. However, the service was TERRIBLE to say the least. As soon as we walked in, my husband sat down with the kids while we ordered. As this was out FIRST TIME here and didn't know about the golden rule: sit until after you order and PAY. A male worker with curly hair (owners grandson) walked up to my husband and told him he couldn't put 2 tables that were against the wall together because he had to pass my there to which we responded that they were against the wall and the people sitting there before us had the tables joined as well. He then rudely stated that they did not. We separated the tables and when he went up to the front counter I heard him telling the cashier (another owner grandson) that he was ready to "start swinging" at my husband and saying that this better be the last time we come here. I heard him and kept my mouth shut as I waited for my turn to order. When it was mine and my mother in law's turn to order, the male worker kept saying nasty things about my husband so I politely asked the cashier to please be respectful to which he stated "he was disrespectful first and if you don't like it, you can leave and go somewhere else" He said it in English to me and in Spanish to my mother in law. Dona Maria then asked what happened in Spanish and I told her that her grandson was threatening to hit my husband and she "no mija como crees" So then the cashier in English said "if its really a problem, we can take it outside" (meaning the curly head grandson and my husband) I was so in shock that he was saying this that I didn't know what to say. I went back to our table and told my husband, sister in law and father in law what happened and my sister in law went to ask to speak to the manager. When asked about telling us that if we dont like it we can leave and that we could take it outside, the cashier denied everything in front on the manager (his dad). Why would we make up all these lies? For what purpose? TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, UNPLEASANT, AND UNPROFESSIONAL establishment! The food may be great but the customer service is...

If you are rating this restaurant in July 2025, you should know that they just moved to a bigger location and, like any other business, they are trying to figure out the kinks of a new space. Lunch and weekends at the old, much smaller location have always been crazy busy. If like us, you went on opening week/end, I hope you went with grace and patience fully knowing that it wasn't going to be perfect. We went for the food and to show support because it's not always easy taking a business risk to grow, and as faithful customers, we wanted to thank them for taking that risk to serve us better. There was a long line, tables were all taken and the staff was hustling. We got there at 11 am, stood in line for 30 mins and were told our food order would take 1.5 to 2 hours. The people in front of us left after being told that and as they walked out they told us we should leave too - I should mention that they let their family members cut the line and even mentioned to the staff that they needed to lock the doors to not let more guests in...so I was very happy to see them leave. We only waited for our food 30 mins, which is normal on a Sunday at any good restaurant in Dallas. The staff was very kind, gracious and apologetic for the wait. We have been supporting Dona Maria since we moved here six years ago and will continue supporting them. This place caters to a very specific client, for those of us who come from Juarez/El Paso, this is home away from home asi que Gracias por seguir sirviendonos. Que Dios les...

There’s a sign on the window that says to order before you’re seated written in marker. I didn’t see the sign when I walked in. We were second in line. The guys that were in front of us ordering were eating their food to go. As soon as a table became available my wife went to go stand next to the table while they were cleaning it. An employee came to tell me next time I needed to order before we sat at a table. I really didn’t understand what he was trying to tell me since it’s kind of loud in there. I asked the guy that was taking my order what was going on and he told me that I needed to order before I sat down. I said well maybe you should hang a sign. He told me you should go look at it because it’s outside on the door. I said I will and he continued saying go outside and look at it with attitude and then walked off. Another person started to take my order then walked off to get the owner and the person who was telling me to go outside to look at the door was saying “this n word is trippin dog”. The guy taking my order was very unprofessional and lost his cool. He resorted to cussing me out in front of kids who were in the restaurant. I made an honest mistake by not seeing the sign and it turned into something it shouldn’t have. The food is good but I will NOT be returning because nobody deserves to be treated the way I was, especially for making an...

My wife and I had a hankering for some REAL Mexican food. Now I lived in San Diego for 30 plus years so I know good Mexican food. We went to Dona Maria and found a small restaurant that was full on Sunday morning. Almost all the tables were full, we managed to grab a spot just before it got totally packed! The food was amazing, as authentic as it gets. I had a bowl of menudo, and my wife had a plate with birria and another dish that I can only describe as heaven, pictures included. Everything I tasted including the house made salsas were outstanding. Give this place a try, there might be a line, well ok there WILL be a line, but this food is worth the wait. This place seems like it’s family owned, the service is excellent, the staff is very attentive and patient in case you’re undecided as to what you might want! But don’t worry even if you make a mistake whatever you get is going to be very good!😊😊😎ENJOY!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic, Delicious, and Full of Heart! The only thing I don’t like is they take so long to order and bring the food 😒 but the food is good 😏😁 Doña Maria Mexican Restaurant is a true hidden gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed like family. The food is absolutely amazing fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love. I tried the enchiladas and carne asada, and both were perfect. The tortillas tasted homemade, and the salsas had just the right kick. Service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you’re looking for real Mexican food that hits the spot every time, this is the place. Highly recommended

This restaurant has been on my wish list for a long time, but because it’s tucked away in Richardson ( I live in Mansfield ) I had to find the time to make the drive . I have to report that it was well worth the wait ! The food is outstanding , specially the gorditas. You don’t find flour gorditas very often here in the DFW . The guiso de Winnie is delicious & but tilt reminds me of Juarez . I enjoyed the colita de Pavo , and their mole ! The chilaquiles were good , but would have been better with meat added on. Horchata was good as well . I would definitely comeback !
