Thai Soon Restaurant – A Hidden Gem with Heartfelt Flavor Thai Soon is more than just a restaurant — it’s a heartfelt experience. Tucked away like a secret worth sharing, this small, family-owned spot instantly makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service is refreshingly personal. What truly sets Thai Soon apart is the chef herself. She’s not just cooking — she’s connecting. She knows her regulars by name and often remembers exactly how they like their food before they even say a word. She’s hands-on, warm, and always willing to customize any dish to your taste. Whether you like it mild, spicy, gluten-free, or vegan, she makes sure each plate reflects your preferences — no cookie-cutter meals here. Every bite tastes like it was made with care and intention. You can feel the love she puts into her food, and it comes through in the flavors — bold, fresh, and full of depth. And the portions? Generous doesn’t even begin to cover it. For the price, you walk away full, happy, and planning your next visit. Thai Soon is a rare find: a place where you’re not just a customer, you’re treated like family — and the food is as unforgettable as the experience.

Ordered a Tom Yum soup and Pad See Ewe via Uber Eats delivery. Once it arrived and the soup was opened up, we were taken aback by its unusual appearance. It looked like a tub of raw vegetables floating in a slightly murky water, not the reddish opaque broth that is to be expected in tom yum soup. The broth tasted like watered down pickle juice, with very little flavor. It was briney, salty, and bland, with absolutely no spice. The vegetables were bland and undercooked with the same bland pickle flavor. Whatever this was, it wasn't like any tom yum soup I've tried. Thankfully, the pad see ew was tasty if not lacking in spice as well. A little Sriracha made it quite tasty, and it ultimately saved the meal. Unfortunately, their version of tom yum has left a bad taste in my mouth both literally and figuratively. I don't leave reviews often but I felt the need to do so tonight. The presentation and flavor of this "soup" was so bizarre and unpleasant I felt the need to warn people about ordering it. This was our first time trying Thai Soon Restaurant, and it may also be our last.

Love this quaint Thai restaurant. I've had everything on the menu at least 2-3 times over the years but am just now writing a review. Food is so authentic and full of depth, texture and is exciting to eat. We love real Thai food and there are very few places in DFW that make it properly. Portions are generous, service is friendly and accommodating, and they aim to please. It's family owned and has been around since the 80's! On this visit we ordered spicy eggplant with shrimp, minced chicken Thai basil, and tom ka seafood. Their tom ka and tom yum are the best in DFW! Perfect balance of flavors wheres most other places it's too salty, too sour or lacks depth. I've honestly never had anything bad on the menu. Good idea to read the description of the food or ask questions if you need clarification or are not very familiar with Thai cuisine. Ex: their orange chicken is NOT going to taste or look like Chinese orange chicken. But I guess some people think all Asians have the same dishes 🤦‍♀️

My husband and I ordered takeout: yellow curry with tofu and the orange chicken dish. Both dishes were mostly liquid and veggies. Little bits of tofu in my curry dish and little vegetables.

The orange chicken is a tub of carrots 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕 swimming in brown sauce and a few bites of chicken (the chicken is NOT fried, which is weird). My husband picked out the chicken bits out of his dish, and it was literally such a small amount that looked pathetic on his plate. We just threw out the heavy tub of carrots in sauce! 🤮

I assume the restaurant is trying to save money by filling up their orders with a ton of vegetables and liquid then throwing in a few bits of protein?

This was our first time eating from this restaurant and, honestly, we won’t be ordering again. We were excited to try this place out based on all the great reviews! Unfortunately, it’s probably a case of manipulating the algorithm to show the rave reviews only maybe?

If you’re looking to eat your fill of veggies in sauce, then this is...
