Picked up a $200+ order of breakfast tacos this morning for an office meeting. I order these fairly often for my entire office staff, usually $300+ order. Last few times have been disappointing. In the past, they have large containers of salsa ready to go. I only order 3 flavors of salsa- roja, verde, and chipotle to keep it simple. The last few times, no salsa is packaged and I am told to fill a bunch of little containers myself which takes a good bit of time. I have asked for the larger containers to fill myself and told the restaurant does not have them. I order the pico on the side due to some people's allergies/ sensitivities to spice, and the pico is put in a larger container so they must have them on hand. I'm feeding 20-50 people to put things in perspective....lots of tiny containers and these little ones often spill. Same thing this morning, so I asked for a bag to put all these little cups in. Lady at the front gives me a small paper bag that ended up ripping once full of salsa cups. I wasn't even done filling tiny cups yet. Asked her very politely if I could have 2 more bags as I needed more room and first one had ripped. She seemed irritated that I pulled her from her conversation with what appeared to be a friend, not a customer, and gives me one bag while rolling her eyes at me. So sorry, I must be a Karen since I am a customer who asked for something....not like I asked for the manager LOL! What makes it worse, she could have offered to help fill containers if they really didn't have larger ones, restaurant was EMPTY aside from her friend. I worked in the restaurant industry for several years and would have offered to help any customer however I could. They used to have employees here who would even offer to help me carry out my many bags. I would tell them not to worry, but appreciated them offering. Guess it's the difference between someone providing customer service versus one who's just collecting a paycheck. My company has spent thousands of dollars on breakfast at this location over the past 4 years, but I may need to be done if this is the quality of service provided now. There's plenty of taco places in DFW where I won't be treated like gum on your shoes. Will no longer recommend Tacos Y Mas to anyone, when I used to rave about the awesome breakfast tacos and great service.
Update: I've given this location two more massive breakfast order since my initial review a few months ago, and have come to the conclusion they no longer deserve my business. On a positive note, the last two orders did have my salsas in the larger containers, which was appreciated. The rude woman at the front is still as rude as ever. I tell her good morning , she looks at me like I'm an inconvenience, no communication. Won't even tell me if I'm waiting on more bags or if my entire order is there. Interacting with her is a very unpleasant way to start the day. Looking at other reviews, it seems other people might have had similar interactions with her. She really should not be in a customer facing role if this is her...
Read moreI recently visited Tacos Y Mas with high expectations, given the positive reviews I had heard from friends. However, my experience was rather average, and the restaurant fell short of the hype.
The ambiance was welcoming, with a vibrant and casual atmosphere. The staff was friendly, but the service was a bit slow, leading to a longer wait time than anticipated. The menu offered a decent variety of tacos, burritos, and other Mexican dishes. Unfortunately, the execution did not match the menu's promise.
The tacos, while generously filled, lacked the depth of flavor and finesse I've come to expect from a good Mexican restaurant. The meats were somewhat bland, and the tortillas were on the dry side. ** I ordered lengua, barbacoa, and tripas.
Additionally, the pricing seemed a quite high for the quality of the food. While I understand that good ingredients come at a cost, the overall dining experience did not justify the relatively steep prices.
On the positive side, the restaurant had a clean and well-maintained appearance, and the staff was responsive to requests. Despite the shortcomings in the food, Tacos Y Mas might be a suitable spot for a quick and casual meal if you're not seeking an authentic Mexican culinary experience.
In conclusion, Tacos Y Mas left me with mixed feelings. While it has potential, there's room for improvement in terms of flavor, execution, and value for money. If the restaurant can elevate its culinary offerings, it has the potential to become a more memorable dining...
