Update: since the thin-skinned owner decided the best course of action was suggesting I go to Taco Bell, you hit the nail on the head Mr Leonardo Spencer, their food is definitely on par and comparable to the completely forgettable food you serve. As far as my “qualifications” to criticize your food, well sir, I eat every day, love food, and especially love authentic taquerias, of which I try every one I can, which is why your restaurant came into my sights, I was looking for a nice place to get a good taco, and your obviously PR firm bought reviews coerced me into trying it. Again, the meat was meh, the margarita was tiny and weak, and the TORTILLA WAS OVER COOKED, meaning it was dry and chewy on the edges and not a nice texture, as a chef and restauranteur I thought you would understand the term “Over-cooked.” I created an account to critique your eatery, never felt the need to before, because it was so over-rated, and I’m glad I did as it shows you’re more interested in lashing out at an honest opinion rather than take the note and try better. Your restaurant is forgettable, you’re pathetic, and I’m sure the free-market will prove me right. Good luck!
Original review: Over-cooked, over-priced, under-fed. Seriously overrated, can’t believe it has so many 5 star reviews. Food is nothing special, corn tortillas aren’t homemade and are overcooked/dry. $8 margaritas are weak and served in a tiny glass. Service is fine. Honestly, there are tons of taquerias within spitting distance that are better and don’t charge an arm and a leg for food that can best be described as “meh.”
P.S: as the owner wanted to know my qualifications for reviewing a taqueria, I will start reviewing and posting better taco places on my profile, it’s by far my favorite food, so I know countless places where you can better spend your money. Thanks for the inspiration...
Read moreI’ve tried El Tizoncito Forest twice now. Each time it has been about the same taste and presentation wise.
First off all, the servers were very friendly and there were no language barriers. My server was attentive and made sure that I had everything that I needed.
I had the Chicken Tinga Tacos. While there was a lot of meat in the tacos, the Tinga flavor was not as strong as some other places that I have tried.
The guacamole was not good AT ALL. It tasted like it was pre made and maybe a day or two old. Keep in mind that I love guacamole too. 😢
I was surprised that they only have three frozen margarita flavors . None of which are strawberry or lime. So, I opted for a house margarita on the rocks. It was satisfactory and packed a punch.
Overall, it was ok. While I appreciated the welcoming environment, I found the food to be average and some what expensive for the amount of food that you get. The tacos were very small and I was still hungry. 😂I would go back but not in a hurry. Check out El Tizoncito and let me know...
Read moreMr. Spencer,
I appreciate your response, but I find it highly unprofessional and unnecessary to resort to personal attacks against a customer who simply shared an honest experience.
First, I never stated that I refused to leave a tip. My concern was about the mandatory 20% gratuity, which was not clearly communicated beforehand. Tips should be earned based on the quality of service, not forced upon customers.
Second, I do not need a lesson on restaurant expenses. As a finance and tax professional, I fully understand the costs associated with running a business. However, it is not the customer’s responsibility to cover wages through excessive tipping policies. Employers should pay their staff fairly instead of shifting the burden onto diners.
Additionally, as a tax professional, I see firsthand on tax forms that many restaurant employees earn more from tips than from their base wages. This contradicts the argument that mandatory tipping is necessary to support them. If employees are making a substantial portion of their income through tips, then the responsibility should fall on the employer to ensure fair wages rather than forcing customers to compensate for it.
Furthermore, your response is full of disrespectful assumptions about my attitude and behavior, which is completely uncalled for. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, you chose to shame and belittle me—a paying customer. This is not how a business owner should respond to feedback.
Your reaction only reinforces my point: customer satisfaction is not a priority at El Tizoncito. I will ensure that others are aware of how you treat those who support your business.
Sincerely, someone who values respect and professionalism.
