EDITED. Today we were back, out server was Kennedy (she was fantastic) and the food was far better. Potatoes actually cooked through. Perfect Benedict poached eggs. Terrific coffee. Keep it up First Watch.
We wanted to go to 30 Brunch, this morning, but it being Monday, they're closed. So we went to our stand by, First Watch.
The service was excellent. Our server was attentive, offered suggestions, and responded to all our requests.
The food was somewhat unimpressive, today. Daughter had the carnitas breakfast quesadilla, and I had the chorizo omelette. These were rather flavourless. We do appreciate lower levels of spices to permit one to tailor the food, but these bordered on bland. The coffee, iced coffee and Watermelon Wakeup were great as usual.
We find First Watch the mid-road upscale breakfast, and the offerings rather varied in their quality. I have long since stopped getting the breakfast potatoes, they're always undercooked. But the menu is varied and we do suggest you try around it. But you're better off going to 30 Brunch, in my view, if you're in Garland, Richardson, Rowlett/Rockwall.
Again, 3 stars, but 5 for our server. I apologise to her for not naming her, but my e-receipt does not show her name. :( You were terrific!
Brunch for two, with two plates and three drinks, was $54 after tip. Yeah. $54. The Tip was the best money...
Read moreWheelchair accessible ! After a long medical appointment tired and hungry my daughter took me to First Watch for our first time.. the first one we found looked open but is not opening for four more days. However the manager was quick to tell us there's another one 2 miles away and gave us a menu to study on the way. We arrived at the Lake Highlands location and staff helped open the doors so I could get my large power wheelchair in. One quick assessment told us there were no tables available but only booths which is not doable in a power wheelchair. The host then mention the community table which is a no wait table with a high table. I told him that's perfect for a power chair as mine will elevate and we quickly became comfortable there. The waitress was as excited to tell us about the menu as we were to hear about it. Her description of the million-dollar bacon made it impossible not to order. And it was as good as she described. My daughter had soup and sandwich and I had lemon pancakes that were divine. My daughter said the lunch was very good and love the sourdough bread. By the way if anyone in a wheelchair tries this restaurant the bathrooms are very roomy and well-equipped for wheelchair accessible. We will be returning to this restaurant again and again. Can't wait to try something else next time. But always order the...
Read moreIt is Tuesday afternoon and I just left First Watch after attempting to try out this new neighborhood location for the first time. Unfortunately it was a pretty bad experience. After checking a few emails while waiting to be served I noticed it had been 30 mins and I hadn't received water and after looking around I noticed three four tops in the same position I was - hungry and wondering what in the world is taking so long. After talking to a few others around me it seemed our waiter was completely MIA for over 45 mins. There were three other groups of folks who were waiting to be seated listening to the now four table dialogue about the poor service with the host (who was trying his best to help the situation), we all left. I would also like to note that by my count around twelve people in my roughly forty minute experience were pretty dis-satisfied, that was just the folks in my section. I will likely give this place one more try but based on reading these other reviews it sounds like this has been an issue since opening. If you cant manage a Tuesday lunch hour, I cant imagine that a weekend brunch would be much better... hopefully this gets...
