Mi Cocina — Restaurant in Dallas

Ismael F was a great server. 5 stars to Ismael. The manager Gloria ruined the experience. We sat infront of the curbside pickup and there were many cars who had their high beams on that had their lights piercing into the restaurant at my table. We asked nicely to lower the blinds, just one set of blinds, so the lights aren’t shining into our eyes while we try to enjoy the dinner. Gloria prioritized the wreath and decor over my experience. What makes it worse, is that she came back to my table 1 hour later to check in on us, while another car is parked and have their high beams shining directly at our table, and she has the audacity to ask us “how is everything”….like girl the lights are still shining onto us. Gloria didn’t make any counter offers to make our experience better, like offer to buy us a drink or get us a appetizer for free. It felt as if she came to check on us knowing the lights are still shining infront of us, and came to check just to laugh in our face. Ismael was great, Ismael deserves 10 stars. My friend Shannon and I go to this Mi Cocina probably twice a week which pretty much says everything about this restaurant. Deborah is usually there on the days we show up and always has a smile on her face and remembers us. All the servers at the restaurants are very attentive, prompt and knowledgeable. Our recent server Sebastian recommends different dishes which end up being exactly what I was describing what I wanted. He and the other servers are very observant but not pushy and definitely do not interrupt (which is a huge pet peeve). I so enjoy Mi Cocina In Lakewood that I highly recommend it to anyone. Bottom line, Deborah is more than delightful, Sebastian is fabulous in every way and all the staff has been trained to perfection. My husband was in the wine business for years and I know that restaurant service is super super important and that training is a must. So I highly recommend this restaurant because they have done everything right! So...

Overall I enjoyed my meal and the service. Lets start with the wait time. It was literally 2mins and on a busy Friday night that's was unexpected especially when the hostess quoted us a longer wait time before handing us our pager. Although their tortilla chips were not my favorite(they tasted store brought) they were still decent and held up to the dips(salsa and queso dip with beef). The waiter made sure that he replaced our chips when we were out and brought drinks and food immediately when they were ready. I ordered the bbq enchiladas, they were ok but the slaw and rice and beans(stars of my plate) were seasoned very well. Food presentation was ok(the food was hot, plating was basic). The design of the restaurant forward but cozy. This is a restaurant I would visit again, probably around lunch time, just to see if it is always well staff and if the service is just as attentive as my first visit.
