Overall, I always have a good experience at this location. Not today. The short, fat woman (la chapparita) who works the deli counter needs to get on board with 'be nice to customers' directive that everyone else there seems to follow. She barely spoke to me, filled my order, flung it up on the counter, and turned her back. No 'thank you' or anything. Seconds before, I saw her interacting pleasantly and animatedly to a customer who spoke to her in Spanish. Do better, grunona! I'm bi-lingual and maybe she would have been nicer if I had spoken Spanish to her. I left word about this to a couple people in the store, including the deli counter manager. Cuidado. Best parts are the water feature and the trail it is at the entrance of. The trail has so much wildlife to enjoy. In spring there are many families of ducks and geese running around with their babies. Turtles come up to explore the side of the trail and make horseshoe patterns in the tall weeds. Walkways that extend from the apartment complexes along Skillman St. and go under Walnut Hill Ln. to the LakeHighland Station allow one to see a pretty nice view along the way of crape myrtles, a pond and other plants. Oftentimes, people will walk or jog along that walkway. The Lakehighlands Town Center holds a grocery shop, a coffee shop and a restaurant that are open to the public. At the same time, there are many vacant spaces within it. Let’s hope some day there will be more to see...
