Fish City Grill — Restaurant in Dallas

I live at the Haven Lake Highlands. Great concept...if was in Plano or Frisco. I don't think folks her get it. Maybe because it's in depression. The reason for moving to this building and remaining for so long was to enjoy the Sprouts and other amenities. That is beside the point. I won't discuss Haven. That is a whole post of it's own. That's the intro. I took the new pup to sit on the patio. I don't go out to restaurants often. This was going to be a little treat. The waitress took her sweet time to come out to greet us. Which she DID NOT DO. I'm prejudice that my pup is the cutest ever. The waitress did not give her a glance. Funny when the waitress working the other table came over especially to say hi and make a nice comment "you made my night". I ordered a frozen margarita along with a request for more large dinner napkins. I specifically held up the dinner napkin when I asked "for more of these, please". When the waitress finally dropped them off they were small bar napkins. I had to ask if the margarita was ready, which got a shocked look. When it came, a 1/3 of it was melted. Not a big deal. It was still good. Actually the best thing, including the experience, that I had at this Fish City with Miss Personality. Anxious to leave when was finished, I was made to wait. I did not ask, I waited for her to return to ask for the check. She brought the little Chit receipt to me and tossed on the table. Not in a folder, just a cash register receipt. It was breezy, it almost blew away. When she came by to collect my payment, I asked her nicely, "are you distracted?" Of cause a look of surprise. Then I hit her with the 2nd question. "Do you recall me asking for these (dinner) napkins not these (bar) napkins." Of cause she came back with a lame excuse, when the best response was, I'm sorry. When you spend nearly $30 for mediocre food at best, you'd hope to come away with a decent experience if nothing else. I was so twisted over this I wrote what I thought of her service on the payment receipt and $0 tip. A note to the management of this Fish City, besides train your staff, is your patio music is competing with the music from the Taco Diner....

We thoroughly enjoyed our most recent visit to Fish City Grill. We've always had good experiences, especially at this location, but this most recent visit was extra for many reasons. Our server Joel could not have been better. He greeted us and quickly took our drink orders. Without asking, he walked us through the specials and even offered up a couple of his favorites and why. Our entire party went for one of the specials (sockeye salmon). Joel expertly advised how we should order the cook on it for maximum yumminess, and he was absolutely right. Normally, I go past medium rare for salmon, but I'm glad I took his suggestion for the cook on this specific type of salmon. The order was 100% accurate (we each changed up our sides a bit), and the food was absolutely delicious. That ranks among some of the best salmon I've eaten. One person in our party had had a work dinner at Ocean Prime this week, and he said this salmon was far better than the salmon he'd eaten at the far more expensive Ocean Prime. Joel's service really took the experience to top notch. He has a very laid back, conversational personality that doesn't feel fake or forced like it does with so many servers. yesterday I came with my family to eat here. we just moved across the street. the whole lake highland area has a lot of great spots, but I do believe that Fish City Grill will be our favorite, the drinks were so great. some of the best drinks I’ve had in a very long time. The food was fresh and hot and the atmosphere was amazing, I think there was a kids event going on because it was lots of children everywhere but we had fun seeing them have fun. But one person TOPPED EVERYTHING, our waiter Nievells, his entire personality was everything, I wish I could’ve put him in my purse and took him home. we have adopted him as our new son. He was fast, kind, super funny, and just made us not want to leave, we came in around 5 and didn’t leave until 7:30 because he just was so loving. He took Better care of me than my own husband. (I hope he never sees this review 😂) but he said he was new and but it seem like he’s been working there for years.
