I ordered take out online through the doordash app for pick up. I went in and there was about 6 hostess standing at the front, i told them i was picking up a to go order. One of the hostess instructed me to go to the bar. As walking around the corner to the bar I noticed a table with to go orders, I looked and my order was the only one there on the table so I grabbed it and proceed to walk out assuming since they had it sitting on a foldable table out in public reach that it was customers to easily grab their orders. As leaving I was stopped at the first set of doors by one of the hostess, telling me that i need to still check in with the bar. I asked her why was the food just sitting out and she said very unsurely that she thinks they place it out so that they know the order is ready which makes 0 sense because i’ve been to other gloria’s establishments and the orders are placed behind the bar when ready and the bartender gives you your order which is why I assumed the order was out for easy customer accessibility. As walking back in a man comes around the corner in a rush towards reiterating what the host told me and stated i might have got the wrong order which i then stated it has my name on it and proceeds to pull out my phone to show proof. At this point customers inside are looking in our direction which at that point I felt get HUMILIATED & EMBARRASSED because it was coming to myself and other customers that they were trying to make it seem like I stealing food. I understand if they have certain rules but the way the situation was handle was very unprofessional & made a big deal out of nothing. The manager then takes the bag from me and states it’s a doordash order which i respond yes i ordered for pick up through the doordash app. He then looks confused and ask the bartender through his speaker mic. The bartender looks in his system and asks me was it a customer order and I said yes, he then tells the manager yes that’s is her order. The manager then looks very shocked and says to me yess this is your order, here you go. I politely said thank you and walked out embarrassed and upset. I did not get a apology. I love Gloria’s establishment but the customer service at the Bishop Arts location is...
Read moreOn July 27th, I came to eat here & the waiter dropped a Sangria drink on my fiance that spilled all over his clothes, food, & brand new IPhone. My fiancés phone started malfunctioning the next day. We did not make a big deal about it because things happen and the phone was insured.
However, we gave this location a second opportunity because we love the food. Two weeks ago, we brought a large party with us and our waiter Miriam gave us an attitude when we told her that the previous waiter before her had given us a free queso (the other waiter did this because Miriam was late to her shift & we had been sitting there waiting to be attended). Miriam then told her manager, Jesus, about the queso situation since apparently the waiters are not allowed to do that. Jesus then came to our table & gave us terrible attitude about it & told us the drama that was going on in the restaurant because of the queso and who was going to pay for it. We do not need to know this as customers. I love how management will get involved over a queso but nobody ever came & talk to my fiance when he had the sangria dropped all over him in July.
Miriam was then switched to serve a different table & we were placed with a pleasant young man as our server. However, we felt like we were being tossed around to different waiters over a queso we hadn’t even asked for. Miriam was okay, our problem was with how Jesus handled the situation. My fiance talked to Jesus about the situation who gave him a passive aggressive attitude. My fiance then asked to speak to the manager above him & Jesus was hesitant to tell him who his supervisor was but she happened to be passing by. Had it not been for the general manager, the young man, & Carolina we would have never came back to this location. The general manager assured us Carolina would not be in trouble for comping a queso and that she did the right thing to attempt to provide good customer service.
Carolina, the general manager, & the young man were both very pleasant & had such great personalities. If we ever come back to this location, it would only be...
Read moreI used to love Gloria’s Restaurants. The one located in Arlington, TX for sure. Then I happened upon this Gloria’s restaurant in Bishop Arts. It was about 2 PM on Saturday. It was rather hot outside and I got hungry. No plans, I thought I could pop into Gloria’s for a nice late lunch. I was a loner that day. The hostess refused to give me a table. She says it would be an hour and a half to two hours wait time. I asked if I could sit outside. Again she refused. She quickly ushered me to the bar where I sat for an hour waiting for service from bartenders. There were two bartenders on duty. They felt more obliged to wait on the drinking customers I suspect for tips. I finally got one of the bartenders attention by hailing “I want to place an order”. He asked what did I want to drink. I told him that I was ushered to the bar because no tables were available for single me. After waiting another 15 minutes, he produced a menu. I placed and order and finally the food arrived. I felt the dish was thrown on the bar in front of me as if I was, again, in the wrong place. It appears that customer service is a thing of the past for this establishment.
For days, I wondered whether this treatment was due to my singularity or the fact that I was African American. I should have left but I wanted to see how this would end. It seems these establishments want African Americans business only if they are some place out of sight. BTW, the food was less than average taste. I ordered tacos. I wish I could give this rating a...
