As a loyal customer of 5 years, I’ve consistently driven 43 minutes to support this business—despite its location being far from where I typically go. Honestly, this chicken spot has been the only reason I set foot in South Dallas (besides the State Fair). I’ve always loved the food and built a genuine loyalty over the years.
Unfortunately, today was the last straw.
From the moment I walked in, the owner looked at me as if I didn’t belong. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt—maybe it was a bad day. But the energy was off, and I felt rushed and unwelcome. There was no effort to greet us properly or even confirm if we were together when ordering. It felt like he didn’t want our business at all.
He mentioned changes to the staff and tried to speak on improvements, which I hoped included better customer service. But instead, it felt like everything I loved about the place was slipping away.
I asked if the fries were fresh, and the lady assured me they had just come out. They looked pale but I trusted them because I’ve never had bad food from here. Sadly, they were undercooked, soggy, greasy, and lacked seasoning. Despite being exhausted and starving from a long workday, I only ate the chicken—which wasn’t fresh either, but still edible.
When I politely returned to address the fries, the owner dismissed me with sarcasm, blaming me for sitting outside too long. He passed me off to someone else and offered more of the same greasy fries. I was shocked.
At that point, I let him know—respectfully—that the customer service was unacceptable. As a business owner myself, I understand how important it is to treat people well. I would never let a client walk away from my business feeling the way I felt today. And I own a very nice very well kept business.
It’s sad to see a place I once loved try to improve and end up ruining the very things that made it special. I never leave reviews and I’m not a confrontational person—but today I felt the need to speak up.
They have lost not only my business, but my...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE!!!!!! I have been eating Henderson’s Chicken since the ‘70’s and have always loved it. Yesterday, I thought I would stop by on my way from work to get some for my family and it was absolutely the worst experience I ever encountered in my life. I bought 3 orders, and when I went to the end of the counter I noticed the lady was very carefully making sure to put only 3 hamburger slices on each order. I went back to the counter wanting to buy more pickles to go on each of my 4 piece orders and the cashier very rudely said that would be fifty cents more per order for an additional 3 hamburger slices per order. I declined the extra pickles. After I left I opened my order to eat some of the fries and not only were they cold, the chicken and fries in all my orders were cold. My brother also bought chicken and his was the same way. I’m not going to say I won’t ever eat at Henderson’s again, but I will say I will never spend my money at this location again. I have always believed in supporting BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES, but I’m done with this one and I will be tell all my family and friends just in case they don’t check reviews. I feel like I just made a donation since the food wasn’t edible. I forgot to mention the location was at the FAIR PARK...
Read moreHorrible customer service, On 12/12/2017 I showed up to order some food at 11:10am, and the place was still closed. Waited outside in my car for them to open never did, at least not while I was waiting, so I had to settle for William's. Today 12/13/2017 I showed up at 11:05am and this old lady "RUDELY" tells me: "Excuse me, we're not ready and he was first" (pointing to one other customer besides me), so obviously I'm second. However, not even 30 seconds past by and about 8 people walk in and form a line by the register, and I ended up being number 8 and the other one customer was 4th, and the old lady never said a word about the people who were there first. Needless to say I left pissed off. I needed to order food for my colleagues at work and again had to settle for William's. I grew up on Henderson Chicken as a kid, hell I didn't know there was one around the corner from my office. I'm so disappointed with the staff on Grand Plaza Henderson Chicken, I say fire them and hire new professional people to operate the business. Also, this is not the first time this has happened apparently, other customers were outside speaking ill about the restaurant as well. Please do something about this Henderson Chicken, we want to make you some money and...
