Discriminates Against Disabled! Do not patronize!!! I recently moved to Dallas, and needed an early (5 am) breakfast due to medical appointment. Since 25% of Oregonians live in areas where drive thru operators are REQUIRED by law to serve people using mobility devices, etc. I thought an area as full of heart as Dallas would be no problem. But how wrong I was. My powered wheelchair has lights and the back side covered in the brightest reflectors available. And since I'm a large man, that is a little of reflectors. So I truly can't be missed at night. When I arrived just after 5am there were no cars present. The cashier was friendly and helpful, and I ordered paid and received my food in under two minutes. But it was a manager who gave me my food. She was rude and insulting to me from the moment I pulled up to the window. If she had said, "hey we don't want to serve people like you here" I would have said fine, and never thought about going back. But instead she spoke to me as if my disabilities automatically made me the village idiot. Lie # 1). It's against the law in Oregon for anyone except automobiles to be served at drive thru's. What!? There is no such law! So I tried to politely Request the ORS# for said law (knowing that 10 months ago it became illegal to DENY drive thru service for 25% of Oregonians who might walk, ride bike or use mobility aids. But she was entirely dismissive, resting on it's illegal because the owner said so. I again tried giving her an out by saying, hey if you just don't want to serve me, that's cool I'll go elsewhere. But she chose instead to break out .... Lie # 2). If anyone were to hit you, then we'd be liable. Sounds good, but is also false. If you follow this logic, then any driver hitting any other driver (even because of drugs or alcohol) in a drive thru makes McDonald's legally liable. Because if there were no drive thru, then the accident would never have happened. (I realize people in the USA sure for any reason, valid or not, but this doesn't make McDonald's liable for the behavior of all drivers on their property). Now I wasn't upset with her ignorance of Oregon Law, or that she was treating a disabled person using a motorized wheelchair like an 8 year old on a skateboard I was still trying to engage her to see her statements were not true. But she just cut me off (I was still their only customer at this point) to chastise the clerk who served me and to tell her never to serve me at the window again. As she was coming back to the window someone had just entered the drive thru, and she told me to leave and don't come back, as they won't serve me at the window ever again. Well, since there are efforts to make mandatory service at drive thru's for power chairs, etc. She may be doing that whether she wants to or not. Our entire conversation took less than 3 minutes. There were no other customers. My complaint is how she treated me as if I were severely retarded, and would have no idea what the laws concerning disabled people and drive thru's are. And how rudely she was dismissive of any factual information that may help her (a manager) to evaluate their policies, or to speak with the owners. And it's her treatment of the disabled that is making me ask other potential customers to please eat elsewhere. While the initial clerk I spoke with gave 10 star service, I never want to be lied to add treated so dismissively. So please boycott, and ask your state representative or senator to pass a more comprehensive drive thru law in Oregon, so people who discriminate against the disabled can't hide behind...
Read moreUpdaye August 2020: Do better. Hair in burger are gross.. its Covid-19 season, let's get it together. OLD REVIEW HERE: Who ever runs this place is horribly managing it. McDonald's, if your reading this. Do better! I don't eat here often, but when I do they continue to screw up the same things. Just the other day, I noticed a drink screw up in the car ahead of us. Speaking of car, I've only ever used the drive up window unless I need to go back in to have a order fixed.
I remember working jobs with the public while in high school. Luckily all my boss' taught me to treat the customer right, and to check each and every transaction.
Drink Orders: It's not rocket science. I understand a lot of orders come in all at once... Maybe use a marker. It seems to work for Dutch Brothers and Star Bucks - maybe even try popping the button tabs on the lids???
Sauce: The vein of my fast food trips. I'm a firm believer that confidence in your order goes a long way. I want to grab my fatty burger and go hide in a corner or in the safety of my own home without having to "open the bag" beforehand. Please don't make me feel like I have to check my order in front of you. It's embarrassing for me and especially for you (more so when something is missing) - This is one of the few establishments where I feel the need to check your work. Am I grading your paper? F for you.
What's more annoying is when you politely give me a card for a free whatever and ask me to move forward. Really? It's been all of 2 seconds, and sometimes no one is even behind me. This further drives my point home when I do move forward... wait, and it's still wrong. Now I have to walk inside. If I wanted to walk I would grocery shop. Or go inside and sit down (for the first time), true it's not far - you just walked all the way out here to give me my food and still couldn't manage to put it in a bag correctly (1+1=).
Now for this Dallas location. I can't speak for anyone specific. Other than the manager who I've met more than once who is never polite, or sorry but I can say that the young employees are either, over worked or under trained and that speaks volumes especially when you come back a month later and it's the same thing...
Read moreMy brother, dad, and I decided to stop by McDonald's for a quick lunch because I was late for work and had to be in McMinnville asap for work, but I didn't get a lunch break so I'd be hungry all evening if I didnt eat. We decided the drive through would take too long so we decided to go in. We go in, order, pay and I order a frozen coke, because I've had it at other locations and I really like it. I was late for work, and the McDonald's was swamped and understaffed. Like, Drive through line out to the road and there was about 4 or 5 people waiting in the restaurant, as well and 2 or 3 large door dash orders swamped. The frozen coke and my brothers and dad's soda cups were given before the food, as is typical in fast food, but I took a drink of my frozen coke and it had the texture of a milkshake and tasted like pure syrup. I hate conflict but I couldn't drink this, so I brought it up, the cashier for the in store customers grabbed a sample from the machine and agreed that there was something wrong with it. Since they were too busy for the managers to process a refund, she gave me a card for a free meal and a cup for a soda. I paid $2 for the frozen coke, and my compensation for that being gross was a free meal and a soda worth $1. I think this was a good trade, though the card for the free meal only works in Dallas, Albany, Yreka, and Weed, and I am not particularly close to any of those places. Oh well, it's a free meal. The...
