Original ChopShop — Restaurant in Dallas

We recently visited Original Chop and had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. I ordered the curry chicken and chia pudding, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The curry chicken was perfectly seasoned, tender, and flavorful, while the chia pudding was light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s not easy to find a place that can deliver on both flavor and healthy eating, but Original Chop does it beautifully.

The service was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and friendliness, making us feel like part of the family. It’s rare to find that kind of personal connection in a restaurant, and it made our visit even more enjoyable. They took the time to make sure everything was just right, and their positive energy really stood out.

I never write reviews but I think this location has great promise. I know it has been open for some time but I have not visited. I love the vibe. I work for a commercial dining manufacturer and have 30 years retail mgmt experience. The space was done well. I am a mom of two elementary age children. The entire store needed tidying or the impression of effort. Literally simple tidying . . . someone walking around just tucking in chairs, stools. Desperate for a sweep/vacuum especially around the soda machines. The staff seemed far too young to be running the restaurant at 6:00 PM on a Friday. They were kind though. Store could benefit from supporting community somehow. Promo nights benefiting local schools, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, mom groups, etc. Community board. I did not make it to the restroom but a lot of moms will pass for a bathroom that does not stay clean. The display in front of the registers needs a lot of help. Severely under stocked. Looked very sad and uninviting. I ordered an açaí bowl. When I arrived it wasn’t ready. I think they just misplaced it because when I opened it was completely liquified. Tasty though. So I’m sitting in the car outside Chop Shop, finishing up a delicious meal, when my daughter says, “This is the most delicious day ever!”

But rewind 30 minutes and things weren’t going so smoothly. We had just finished up at the YMCA, our 1-year-old was crying, and it was absolutely pouring rain 🌧️. By the time I got everyone in the car—the baby, the stroller, all the kids—I was completely soaked. The baby was still crying, the kids were starving, and I had promised them a stop at the toy 🧸 store after the Y.

When we pulled up, hungry and tired, we decided to try Chop Shop. Honestly, I thought it was a BBQ/meat-heavy place and wasn’t that excited. But I was so pleasantly surprised. I ordered a healthy and delicious chicken bowl with sweet potatoes, rice, cilantro, and peanut sauce—for just $12. We also got two turkey sandwiches on whole grain with a side of fruit, and the fruit was actually amazing!

We ended up eating in the back of the car while it rained, letting the little one nap. The kids devoured everything—something that rarely happens.
