Finally a great dinner experience. An unpretentious cozy neighborhood gem. So glad we took a chance on this Franco-Italian "bistro." A well balanced, well priced, wine list with a great selection from new and old world, even Greece. Some different, interesting cocktails too. We started with a Cremant. We even got a side car of Crème de Cassis to make our own Kir Royal. Menu was extensive with plenty of interesting "Sharables." Nice salads and pizzas. We started with 3 tasty dips (including a Caponata that even my mother-in-law would love) with bread service, tender Prosciutto Bruschetta, Crispy Fritto Misto with beautiful fried marinated Artichokes and well Fried Green Tomatoes with succulent Pimento Cheese dip and Bacon jam. Menu includes some good Pastas and lovely "Big plates." Our Primo were a textbook, Cacio E Pepe which as you know is not easy to master (We opted for the added Truffles which unfortunately were sprinkles and not shaved with no truffle taste or aroma) and a Bolognese Pappardelle that rivalled my wife's and that is impressive! We also tried the melt in your mouth Short Rib Bourguignon with tender, sweet, baby carrots and an amazing red wine reduction that was just right. Steak Fries was what it should be albeit not very interesting. Would be nice to have a Café de Paris butter sauce option as well as the 2 offered. Of course a beautiful, well priced, CADE accompanied these meats 😁. We skipped dessert after all this food but we did take a piece of the Olive Oil cake home but it was dry. Overall a GREAT dinner made perfect by Annie's impeccable service. Very courteous and hospitable. Never faltered with the wines or silverware and most importantly delivered all dishes PIPING hot as requested 😁 The manager/owner is constantly working the floor. She checked on our table twice. We will be back to try the other dishes on the...
Read moreUPDATE - new Perch Bar and Bistro: Dined last night with another couple and the menu is one that will draw us back often with very approachable selection of pizzas, pastas, burger, appetizers and salads. Full entrees for a full course dinner if desired. We elected for pizza to share, with each person getting a salad or a pasta. The two pastas looked, smelled and tasted wonderful. The pizza was delicious. BUT - the most interesting and unique that is now a signature of the place is the DIP DIP DIP. (you choose 3 "dips"). I wanted all 5. WHich was better for a party of 4. I can if only 1 or 2 people than 3 is about right. But you really want to try all 5. Made my palate very happy to start the evening. I'll back very soon! —————— Review of previous restaurant - "Dea's" - Lynae and Tracy hit a home run with this one. Inspired by their travels to Italy and the region surrounding, the menu is almost perfect. I’m personally waiting for the wood fired oven to be used for pizzas once again. :-)
The menu is curated for different desires yet not a ton of choices. Thus you know each item will be done to perfection. The atmosphere is unpretentious yet I would consider it fine dining without the white table cloths.
Bone marrow, rigatoni and scallops all delighted the taste buds as did the eggplant creation on crostini as an appetizer.
Dea presents itself as what dining out in Dallas should be. A satisfying...
Read moreThis was my second visit to this establishment. Before, I start my review...special shout out to JENNIFER (GM), BRANDON (more than a waiter but our experience manager), and chef's kiss to Chef LOVE!!!!
Both times, the wait was minimal, the seating is very comfortable, and the ambiance is chilly although amazing (bring a jacket if you're sitting in the main dining area). If you're eating/drinking at the bar or the chef's table, you'll be just fine.
Now lets get into the experience, Jennifer's personality felt familiar and I loved it! Although, she was talking to strangers she was invested in the experience. Brandon, gave us excellent recommendations (King Salmon with mushroom risotto). The way he explained it, I was able to taste the ingredients. He made sure we were okay without overbearing us with check ins. The perfect balance. However, lets get into this Watermelon salad... CHEF LOVE presentation of this salad with all the ingredients mixed was a heavenly symphony with my tastebuds. I'm still trying to duplicate it at home but I'm missing something...
My mother and I both got a plate to go for our spouses and they too were impressed with the food.
I didn't take any pictures of my food because pictures won't do it any justice.
Hope to see you there...
