Piada Italian Street Food — Restaurant in Dallas

I came here once b/c my sister told me about a promo they were doing, and the food was meh at best. I came again today b/c I had a $5 off coupon, and it'll probably be my last.

It took over ONE hour for the food for my 6:45 order to be prepared, with me waiting inside the restaurant for 45 min. I gave the “chef” in the white jacket (who I believed to be in charge) my name after about 7-10 minutes of waiting, and she told me my order would be out soon.

Fast forward through people who'd been there before me finally getting their food, people coming in after me having to wait only 10-15 minutes, orders that were put out and still waiting to be collected even after I left, and orders that had much later pickup times being finished.

After more frustrated customers had joined the line and my pickup time crossing the 1 hour mark, the chef finally appeared again (about 40 minutes after she'd last been at the window). Since she was the only one who apparently could come up and ask our names or respond when asked a question.

When I flagged her down, we all asked what was going on with our orders. For me, she asked if I'd given my name. I told her, “yes,” to her about 40 minutes earlier. Then, she tried to claim that someone else probably took my order. I told her that didn't make sense b/c I'd been there waiting AND b/c my ticket was still on the wall (along with those with the two customers also asking questions).

Her general excuse is that there were usually 3 people working the window but tonight was just her. So they decided to just make the PICKUP orders as the customers came in to tell them they had arrived. DESPITE ordering AHEAD and choosing a SPECIFIC time for their orders. And DESPITE the chef last being at the window or even in view 40 MINUTES EARLIER.

I'll updated soon with how the food actually turned out. But so far, fool me once, shame on you; fool...

UPDATED REVIEW l JULY 2023 So my husband and I were significantly closer to this Piada than the others. So we opted to take a risk on the subpar service for our favorite place to eat. Let me tell you, things have changed! The staff was AMAZING. They communicated with us while making our meal and didn't show resentment that we opted for the salmon, since it does take extra time to prepare. The food was terrific, and now, so was the experience.

Thanks for making our 3-hour drive worth it again! :)

June 2023: We LOVE Piada, but this particular location misses the mark on service every time we go. I am not sure if it has to do with the fact that this one has a drive-thru - It could create an extra layer of stress on the staff when managing in person/mobile orders.

Also, this location is slightly more confusing than the others. I order from one person (near the piada press), and instead of letting me pick my add-ons, another staff member has already made my bowl to how it comes on the menu. If that is how the establishment is going to be ran, it would be much more logical for me to order at the register and sit down. Instead, I stand in line for 20-30 minutes, and it is awkward if the employees don't engage with me as they...

This restaurant is basically the Italian version of Cava or Chipotle. The place stayed decently busy while we ate there. I had the pesto pasta bowl with sausage add broccoli. The food was tepid. My friend got the avocado salad and loved it. We split a Parmesan roll up thing (basically a rolled up quesadilla) and it was not bad. The hibiscus lemonade was outstanding. I’d go back just for that.

Every table in this place was dirty. Not one tabled was wiped down the whole time. Also, no napkins in the napkin dispenser. When I went up to get some napkins, I told the person working the register that every table was dirty and there were no napkins out. They said, “okay.” Nothing was done about it. I’m not even sure they told anyone. When I went up for a refill on the lemonade, the container was empty. I went back to the counter and asked for a refill. They asked if I tried the container. I informed them that I had and even tipped it forward to try to help it. They went in the back and made some more.

Honestly, I’d rather go to Cava and have the Mediterranean version or go to Cane Rosso or Zoli’s and have the delicious pasta that is hot, delicious, flavorful,...
