I am a regular customer that goes through the Mockingbird drive thru, usually between 9-10 PM during the last hour of business and have several bad experiences. The first couple times I arrived at 9:46 (14 minutes before official close) waited at the menu with no response for 7 minutes, until an employee taking out trash says "I'm sorry sir, we're closed".... SERIOUSLY?!?!... I had been waiting since 9:46 PM, so you guys close at 9:45 now??? You're advertised that you're open till 10 PM. This happened a couple of times earlier this year, but on May 9th of last week, it was the final straw...On MAY 9th, I showed up at exactly 9:42 PM, and pulled up to the menu, and this is EXACTLY what happened:
Lady: Burger House, how may I help you.
Me: Yes, I'd like a Chili Double Cheeseburger plain and dry.
(long pause)
Lady: Wait,....... What did you want?
Me: I'd like a Chili Double Cheeseburger plain and dry.
(long pause AGAIN)
Lady: K, so wait, you want a Chilli Double Cheeseburger??? (Sounding really annoyed)
Me: Yes, Plain and dry.
(long pause AGAIN)
Lady: Ok, anything else?
Me: Yes, a regular order of fries and a large coke.
(long pause AGAIN)
Lady: You want a LARGE FRIES?
Me: No, a REGULAR FRIES, and a LARGE COKE.
Lady: (*Sounding really annoyed again, reads me the total, and I pull forward)
The lady was RUDE when I got to the window, handed me my food+drink and just said "Here..." I tried to brush off the rudeness with kindness on my part and said "Thank you", to which the lady just turned around and told one of the other girls "Ok, don't take anymore orders".... I looked at the clock as I started to drive away and the clock said 9:51 PM, so AGAIN the employees are shutting down the drive thru EARLY, and not only that, but they were being extremely rude, AND THEY SCREWED MY ORDER UP!!!!! I specifically said "Plain and dry" and I said it TWICE!!!! Surely enough, when I got home, my burger had everything on it, and I just threw it away.
Look, I get it,.... I work late hours too, that's the reason why I show up between 9:30-10:00, cause I'm usually just getting off work myself. I work a customer service job too. I understand how it is when it's been a long day and you just wanna hurry up to close up shop and go home, but if that's going to be the case, than Burger House should advertise that they're only open till 9:30 or 9:45, that way the "last minute"-people don't get screwed when they pull up. Also, the RUDENESS was not necessary, and how the hell can you screw up an order that simple???? I WASN'T ordering a huge list for a family of 5,... I only ordered a Burger, fries, and a drink, AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GET THAT RIGHT!!!!!
I had a bad feeling when I heard how annoyed that girls voice sounded. Surely enough, she screwed up my order despite how simple and basic it was. Because of this experience and these conditions, I will no longer be going through the drive-thru after work, which basically means they just lost about 95% of my business. Again, I used to go through the drive thru almost once a week for the last 4 years or so. That's easily over $1,000 per year.... Now I'll probably only go during daytime hours when I'm on vacation once or twice a year. So a $1,000-per-year customer just turned into a $20-per-year customer.
I would highly encourage management to talk to the closing team members about proper closing etiquette, and let them know customers who arrive 5 or 10 minutes before closing are still CUSTOMERS. They deserve to be treated respectfully and have their orders...
Read moreLet's be real: when you go to a restaurant you've already been to, you go there for a specific item. I had never been to Burger House (6248 E Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75214) before, I didn't know what to get. I'm served immediately and I ask for the best burger in the store. Then I order Jack's Famous Fries and a soda. I get my food before I can even sit down.
The fries are amazing. Let's not mince words with that. Straight up, these fries were awesome, though the dust could've been distributed a little better, they were perfectly crispy and delightful.
The double cheese buger with bacon is very good. Not the best I've ever had, but it's up there. I feel like they held back, so I peruse the menu and find this: The Texas Hamburdog. If your brain just did a somersault, then the name got you, too. I ordered it, and I'll tell you exactly was a Hamburdog is: Two grill-pressed patties, greasy as can be; two slice american cheese; one all-beef hotdog sliced in half (long-ways); two strips of applewood bacon; chilli; grilled onions; jalapeños, and mustard. Now THIS is a sandwich. I ate both burgers and had a blast doing it!
Overall, I was somewhat disappointed with the Double Cheese Burger with Bacon. It was EXTREMELY good for the price. No problems there. The whole meal without the Hamburdog cost less than fourteen dollars. The Hamburdog, by itself, cost eleven and some change. I regret nothing. When i return to Burger House, I'll be getting the Hamburdog. 5/5.

Read moreJust tried Burger House for the first time today. My fiance and I live right around the corner and have for a few years but never have stopped to give the place a chance due to how it looked on the outside. (Which isn't bad, just doesn't stand out as a landmark).
I gotta say I was a little shocked. It was a -really- good, well priced burger that didn't taste over-processed to all hell like most of the burgers you get out of fast food chains. I read one review where someone was complaining about how it tastes like 'stuff you get from the grocery store' on the seasonings. I beg to differ! It tastes like it was made with actual ingredients and not prepackaged a month ago 4 states away. The bun was fresh, the seasoning clearly wasn't rolled into it but freshly applied, the lettuce and onions tasted fresh. I've got a severe aversion to fast food that basically is just operating a microwave for you. This place was great.
Me and my fiance both loved it. It's a good solid "Texas burger". It may look a little like a 'dive' but that's sort of the appeal for me. The staff was nice and my boyfriend loved his "Chiliburger" too. We're both sort of sad we didn't stop at this place sooner and tend to add it to our normal rotation of restaurants.
(Also can I say, seeing the manager/owner so actively being attentive online to reviewers is what got me here. You can tell people care about this place.)
My suggestion? Don't judge a book by it's cover. Give Burger House a chance sometime and you won't be...
